Allo ladies! Wondering if there are any other over 35's (apparently the age of fertility suicide, who knew?) ttc for over a year wanting to chat? If so, pour yourself some virtual wine and let the chatting commence!

I'm back and nurse has called with my results. my bloods have gone from 105.9 to 275, progesterone 3.9 - 17. Back in a week to do bloods again. What a rollercoaster! Not out the woods yet but at least bloods are going in the right direction, albeit still low. X

KEGirlOnFire · 26/04/2014 08:11

One thing I forgot to put in my pm is that with ectopic the levels are much higher because implantation takes place earlier, so I don't think you need to worry about that - the levels would be in the thousands. That's what gave them the biggest seed of doubt about an ectopic in my case. Also at 5 weeks you would likely be having bad pain by now. But of course get yourself to a and e if you do start to get really bad pains. Xxx

Tranquilitybaby · 26/04/2014 07:05

Thank kegirl I feel like I'm in a permanent anxiety nightmare. Terrified that it might be ectopic (stupid me googled too much) and just need to know now.

I'll pm you if I can work out how! Thank you xx

KEGirlOnFire · 25/04/2014 21:44

Ahhh tranquility, sorry it isn't looking too good. I had the low progesterone aswell.

When you find out more let us know. Also pm me if you want to find out about the options that they might give you. I don't want to assume that your situation is the same because things may still turn out ok for you, but just pm me if you want to know anything.

So sorry you're going through all this worry. Sad

Tranquilitybaby · 25/04/2014 19:39

I spoke to the EPU and they said as I'm still feeling a bit crampy, they'll redo bloods tomorrow afternoon, although protocol is to wait a week.

She said my levels are low of I am 5+ weeks and progesterone is too, so I'm preparing myself that it's not going to end well. :(

Let's see what happens tomorrow I guess. X

Hope you're all ok xx

KEGirlOnFire · 25/04/2014 19:30

Any news tranquility???

Virginia, welcome!! It's frustrating isn't it. I'm 40 in June and have been trying for our 2nd dc for 2 years. Are you using ovulation tests etc? Doing the deed every other night in the fertile week and have you had any tests done by the gp?

VirginiaPlath · 25/04/2014 14:25

Hi. Had my DS last year and have been trying to conceive another child since. I'm 50 in June - any tips? We've tried everything!

spinningirl10 · 25/04/2014 07:40

Oh tranquil how frustrating!!

I definitely wouldn't be waiting a week for further bloods!! You're doing the right thing phoning again todayThanks

Tranquilitybaby · 25/04/2014 06:34

Thanks girl. I've been awake since 3am worrying and feeking sick and shaky. I'm going to phone the unit again this morning.

If I had AF 12/4 finishing last Friday and we DTD last Sunday and Monday, then there's no way I could've got a positive like that by yesterday morning, but the gynaecologist on call just didn't seem to listen and just said "you've had a full bleed so it must be a v early pregnancy. So frustrating.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 24/04/2014 21:45

5 wks the range seems to be:

180- 7400

A quick dr google search suggests that level at 2dpo is really good. Do a quick search hon. I'd still call tomorrow x

KEGirlOnFire · 24/04/2014 21:42

Don't panic yet hun, it's not the hcg number that is relevant it's how much it increases, that's the only way they are able to tell, that's why I couldn't understand why he's making you wait and why he's dismissing the af bleed that you had!

Definitely go back hun. It's not over yet. Xxx

Tranquilitybaby · 24/04/2014 21:08

So my 108.9 level at cd13 can't be viable at all then? He didn't say that at all today. :(

Tranquilitybaby · 24/04/2014 21:07

Just had a similar chat with DH and I said the same, I can't possibly wait a week, especially if it's ectopic, I'm a nervous wreck. I'm going to ring the EPU again tomorrow.

KEGirlOnFire · 24/04/2014 20:31

Oh tranquility so you're not really any further forward in your understanding of what is going on.

I can't believe they're not going to take more bloods in 48 hours to check the hcg levels - that is appalling. My hcg level at the first blood test (cd6 I believe) was 356. 48 hours later it was up to 489. Too small an increase to be viable but an increase nevertheless which worried them.

I would go to the gp on Monday and Insist that they take some blood as that is the only way they will know what is happening!!

Really cross for you hun as having been in a similar situation, I know how awful the waiting is...

stubbornstains · 24/04/2014 20:28

Sorry tranquility, x- posted there.

Is there any chance you ov'ed later than you thought?

I guess you'll be doing a lot of HPTs over the next week? Fingers crossed...

Gingerbreadlady1 · 24/04/2014 20:27

stubborn pmsl! Grin oh that story has really cheered me up thanks.

t how very confusing for you, not sure what to say. Can't imagine how hard it is that you need to wait another week. Not sure if this will help but I ov on cd15 in October, got my period 3 days later, dr advised doing a test which was positive for a couple of days. Was early mc so it IS possible to be preg so quickly. The bleeding for me was after ov NOT before like you so doesn't sound to me like the same thing.yours sounds like a very early positive!

mampam I really hope you start to feel better soon, guess we forget that the bfp is the beginning rather than the end of this journey. Keep us up dated, loving hearing a happy old bird story. Can't believe your 11 weeks already!

Oh goodness, how exciting/ scary for you Tranquility. You know, there are oodles of stories on here about how women started their pregnancy with AF and then went on to have a healthy baby.

(God, all this talk is freaking me out- yes I've had weird symptoms this month, but I tested and was BFN. I drank a LOT of wine last week. I am NOT mysteriously pregnant).

I kind of spiked DP with my urine when I tested Shock. I decided to do a test in the middle of the night, accidentally did a wee without thinking about it whilst I was sitting on the loo pondering the test, then woke up again a couple of hours later with just enough wee to give it another go.

So, I decided to wee into something, but my foggy 5am brain couldn't find anything except my (appropriately yellow) coffee cup. "Fine", I thought, "that's MY coffee cup. No one else uses it". So I did, tested BFN, gave the cup a v. quick rinse, and left it sitting on the side.

Now, DP angelically gets up with DS (who is not his DS) nearly every weekend morning, allowing me to have a lie in, and then brings me a coffee about 10-ish- in my yellow cup. Later that day, I told him what had happened and said "Ha ha, it's just as well nobody else uses that cup eh?!"........Cue a certain pause, before he said...."But I do! Every morning before I bring you your coffee I make one and drink it from your cup to save washing up".

Never has there been such savage karmic retribution for using WHAT IS CLEARLY SOMEONE ELSE'S MUG. Grin

mampam · 24/04/2014 20:06

Sorry no never had any blood tests but did loads of tests before they started getting darker.

Inshock73 · 24/04/2014 20:06

Oh Tranquility how annoying, as I mentioned previously my MIL had normal periods for the first 3 months of both her pregnancies and was shocked when she found out she was pregnant both times. I hope you're able to take it easy for the next week or two.

mampam · 24/04/2014 20:03

Very confusing T I guess it's waiting game, shame they couldn't put your mind at ease. Big hugs xx

Tranquilitybaby · 24/04/2014 20:02

ginger oh I'm so sorry to hear that but don't give up hope just yet.

manpam sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish, hope things improve very soon. I felt better from 16 weeks. X
Do you happen to know what your hcg levels were? X

mampam · 24/04/2014 19:58

Sorry Ginger, is it worth trying again tomorrow with fmu? I really feel awful tbh. Think I'm bordering on Hyperemesis (had it last time too). Everything smells disgusting and tastes disgusting too which doesn't help with the sickness.
Have had my booking appt where the mw rushed through everything, (luckily childrens centre was closed as Easter Hols so didn't have to sign in) but did tell me I ought to join SW or see a nutritionist as I'm overweight! I politely said I wasn't going to do that.....it's the last thing on my mind when I feel like total sh*t. Dating scan is 2 weeks tomorrow, I'll be 13 weeks.
Sorry no real cheerful stories to tell.

Inshock thank you Smile

Tranquilitybaby · 24/04/2014 19:52

What a day, I've just got back from the hospital and am more confused than ever.

GP sent me straight to the EPU at the hospital who did a urine dip test - positive. Firstly saw the ward sister who said it's obviously too early to be of already this month, 5 weeks would make more sense. Then Saw a gynae doctor who took bloods, gave me an internal to look for clots or polyps and took a swab. He noted some dark brown discharge, but my cervix is closed.

Waited hours for bloods to come back, as they didn't want me to go home and my hcg level was 108.9, which he referred to the consultant gynae who said it's in line with being just pregnant! How the hell can I be when I'm on cd13?! :( tried explaining that several times but he was adamant that I can't be more as had a bfn on 11/4, then a period.

I'm so confused and he doesn't want me to go back for a week to redo bloods then 48 hours after that.

I'm pretty sure 108 is far too low to be viable if I'm 5.5weeks and can't possibly have that high a number mid cycle!

Sigh....
