Fucking fucking hell. Do I need to get my arse somewhere to try and get a scan, is this an ectopic do you think?

I started off peeing in internet cheapies and the line has been getting stronger each day but I put it down to them being unreliable. Did an opk this evening as I'm cd8 and it's a peak stick and the pregnancy test is a little darker. So I've used the superdrug pregnancy test I bought today and there is a line!!

I don't know what to do. I had a normal period, one day late, but it was normal flow. Should I ring the NHS helpline or the Tommees one?

Have you had any pain/feeling unwell? It is possible to get period type bleeds in pregnancy, so try not to think the worst.
Are you able to self refer at any EPUs nearby? That might be an idea for first thing Monday, but in the meantime I'd try not to get too stressed unless you have other EP symptoms. Hopefully someone with more experience in that area will be along for you soon, but hugs in the meantime.

Wtf?! Are you me? Have a look on the old birds thread, I'm going through the same! Even used the same superdrug tests and line was similar strength! Xxx

Tranquilitybaby · 26/04/2014 20:18

Ring your local hospital EPU (or gynae ward) and see what they advise. Xx

I've had a ton of pains starting from 9dpo plus I threw up, but I put it down to the liquid supplement with iron I was taking. Directly I stopped taking it all the stomach cramps and nausea went. I am so confused and scared it's growing in a tube.

If course I've rung everywhere I could think and there is no one to talk to as it's Saturday night. I can cope if it's a chemical as I've already done a load of bleeding. It's just I wasn't showing a positive on a test pre period - although I have to admit I went and bought a bloody 50 miu digi so I'm not hugely surprised it said not pregnant at 10dpo. But the lines are getting stronger. It's a total headfuck.

It's is possible to have 'periods' during your pregnancy. I had this with my second. It turned out I was ovulating our of both barrels and got pregnant twice but then lost one.

sebsmummy1 · 26/04/2014 20:23

Tranquility have they mentioned ectopic at all, have they scanned you or just done bloods?

SoonToBeSix · 26/04/2014 20:24

Why would you think it's ectopic? You don't have symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy from what you have said. You had implantation bleeding not a period. Congratulations.

sebsmummy1 · 26/04/2014 20:26

My understanding was one of the symptoms was testing positive after a period. I have also had a ton of stomach cramps since 9dpo and ending a few days ago. But like I said, I put that down to an iron supplement in the end.

Plus if the pregnancy was viable I would assume the pregnancy test would be a strong line at 21dpo?

I was totally confused by why I got a + 6 days after my period had finished so I rang EPU who advised to make a gp appointment first. I went on Thursday and a bloods, examination etc then bloods again today. Ectopic was briefly mentioned because I had pain but they said the pain would be bad, either abdominal or shoulder pain or any bleeding. I was told again today if I have any of that to ring gynae ward direct it or go straight to A&E. If the pain is bad, better to be safe than sorry, go there and take the tests with you. Thinking of you, inbox me if you need me x

Tranquilitybaby · 26/04/2014 20:39

There wouldn't be anything on a scan this early, bloods need to be done first x

Carly6971 · 26/04/2014 20:43

Sebs that looks pretty positive to me? I know a few people who had 'periods' through pregnancy and they were clots or something coming away nothing to worry about. I hope this is true for you and it's your sticky bean x

fedupofrainydays · 26/04/2014 21:56

sebs try not to panic. Have you any bleeding at all now? I took 2 superdrug tests with this preg on diff days with fmu and the second one was lighter than the first so I don't think the strength of the line means much.
And one of my best friends has literally just given birth to a boy after having a 'period' during pregnancy so she didn't find out til 7/8 wks gone when started to feel hideous. So it's possible it's just a breakthrough / implantation bleed.

Yes bfp after period can be a sign of ectopic but it also can just be bleeding. I think they only way you will know is if they scan you at 5 weeks to locate it. (They scanned me then as said they would expect to see if it was in right place by then). As an hcg test can still be normal if ectopic. But also hcg low can indicate ectopic as well as a chemical preg.

With my suspected ectopic in nov they took bloods a few times to check declining so presumed a natural miscarriage but they never knew whether was in tube or not... but It was the dark watery blood and fact I felt a bit fluey was why they were worried it could be ectopic. The EPU will see you on Monday of you can hang on til then... Without pain A&E are unlikely to see you.
Take care of yourself xxx

sebsmummy1 · 26/04/2014 22:05

Thanks fedup. I just want a bloody pregnancy that actually works and isn't fucked up. Ok, well there is nothing I can do bar sit tight until Monday. I guess at least I didn't see a positive pregnancy test before I bled out last week. That would have REALLY upset me. Small mercies and all that.

fedupofrainydays · 26/04/2014 22:11

Yeah, I know how you feel. Why can't it just be a normal pregnancy?! I felt like that with the second mc when I started spotting pretty much straight after my bfp :(

I do think its a good sign tho of you aren't bleeding any more. Try and sit tight til Monday and stay away from google if you can as can freak you out as with anything . On the plus side, any whiff of worry re ectopic and NHS will take it seriously and get you checked out. They might say you need to wait if the bleeding has stopped (my doc said wait til 6 weeks and if still bleeding then go to EPU but I called them at 5 wks and they took me). Yours sounds promising and I hope from now it's a smooth ride (and am secretly hopeful for you my friend) xx

sebsmummy1 · 26/04/2014 22:19

On the plus side at least we are fertile!! I just need to keep going and hopefully one of these eggs will stick! Xx

One of my school friends got a BFP after a really heavy 'period'. It turns out that she'd miscarried her DD's twin but her DD was fine and is now an awesome 8 month old terror! :-)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Oh, FWIW, she didn't have bloods, but was referred to the EPU and had her first scan at 6 weeks, then regular scans up til 20 weeks.
