AWomanCalledHorse · 27/06/2012 14:03

Welcome to the lazy way to make a baby, part 10!!

Just Shagging (JS) is ttc using ye olde shagging & crossing fingers methods, our tools are your body, OH?s body..urm some wine & lots of finger crossing.

All are welcome, most leave happy & upduffed! The last two threads have been very successful; thread 8 had 5 BFP?s, thread 9 had 6 BFP?s....so we?re due 7 BFP?s here, which means we all need to get shagging.

We don?t ?do?; OPKS, taking temp or harcore charting...although it is nice to know when ERTD is due.
Which brings us to acronyms & slang;
AF=ERTD (Evil Red Tide Of Doom).
EWCM=Pant Snot
Getting a BFP soon after joining thread= Doing a kitten
You=Are a viroid, no idea why but it goes long back to the dawn of time.
DTD=JS or donning the Shag cape.
POAS=Sometimes referred to as PIAR (Pissing In A Ramekin), as we?re such classy ladies

Here is last thread for proof that it works, and that you can't shut us up Grin

Here is the Graduates thread!

frying YAY for ERTD (not what I usually say)! Stupid doctor upsetting you.

top I have my fingers crossed for you, good luck.

wing sorry about ERTD, sounds like you're coping ok with it though.

I have no idea when I OVed this month. Sure I'm in the 2ww but other than that who knows Confused

topbannana · 22/07/2012 10:38

Off to church this morning and then off to the pub to meet friends for lunch :) Not wanting to waste money on a HPT again I shall wait patiently, with poise and decorum. Though now I have voiced my thoughts ERTD is bound to arrive! (and I am rashly wearing white trousers today as an extra invitation to it Hmm)

ChildOfThe1980s · 22/07/2012 09:48

Happy Sunny Sunday everyone! :)

Wing how long was your cycle this time?

Guinea how long did ERTD last? Mine are always 7 days.

Well I am two days late now but getting lots of cramps so trying to stay calm. Also off to church soon.

WingDefence · 22/07/2012 09:41

Guinea any exciting new PC products on the horizon...?! (Sorry, derailing thread.)

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 22/07/2012 09:04

BTW Frying v.glad errs arrived. Hope that shag cape is washed, ironed and ready to go!!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 22/07/2012 09:01

Hi all. Was at Pampered Chef national conference for the last 2 days and it was AMAZING! I think Im going to recommend to everyone I meet that they immediately give up their jobs and join the Pampered Chef! I realised just how brilliant the opportunities are.

Anyway, enough of me gushing about the delights of Pampered Chef! Wing sorry to hear about ERTD, but at least you didn't have to wait long...still its only little consolation I know.

Top how exciting! Do let us know when you'll POAS.

Incidentally I learnt the other day that you should only use mid-stream urine for a hpt, so maybe PIAR is better.

After ERTD stopping on Thursday it hasn't come back again, just had a bit when I wipe. V.unusual for me as I'm usually heavy for 2-3 days Confused, will see what the Dr says in a couple of weeks. Hormones hey, who'd have em!

Should probably get ready for church at some point. Have a good day y'all! X

WingDefence · 22/07/2012 08:45

Morning shaggers! Think ERTD has arrived here, only 3 days late so not a horrendous wait this time. It's odd that last year I seemed to have a fairly regular 28 day cycle but since we've been properly TTC this year it's been 28 only a couple of times. Confused

Anyway, hope the sun is shibin for you and you all have lovely days today :)

Kittenkatzen · 22/07/2012 01:12

I high five my bf & DH all the time BlushBlush

Oooh top when do you think you'll cave and POAS??!

topbannana · 22/07/2012 00:12

Congrats frying Loving the idea of you and DH high-fiveing, it seems so out of place on this thread :-)
Soooo, I am (according to my calculations) CD28 and still gushing feeling odd. Valiantly resisted buying one of those CB very early HPT's today. No feelings at all that ERTD is approaching but my cycle has been a bit up and down lately so there's still time Hmm

WingDefence · 21/07/2012 15:50

Saranza you're right, I did ask! That's really interesting so thanks for the information.

Persuasion - yes, I can't remember when the last one was! Envy

Persuasion · 21/07/2012 13:39

I've been really busy the last few weeks, with work and Jsing and you lot talk too fast for me to keep up!

frying my brief googling does suggest it can be up to a year but it can come back sooner for lots of people. I don't want to give you false hope, but maybe just keep JSing and see what happens. You're welcome to stay here of course if you want!

stuck I don't think there's any real answer. FWIW I don't personally restrict plans at all, I don't think I could cope with the stress of TTC if my life was on hold as well. I think it's a pretty individual decision though.

Now where are all the BFPs???

Saranza · 21/07/2012 09:12

Frying Hurrah for ERTD!! Smile "up to" do to be the key missing words from what the Dr said.

Wing - well since you ask...natural family planning teachers help women to use charting of BBT, cervical fluid and cycle length to work out when when they're fertile. Then you choose when and how to have sex depending on whether you want to get pregnant.

It's not as icky or tricky as it might sound, and there's a good quality study of 900 women over 10 years that found it was over 98% effective as contraception:
humrep.oxfordjournals.org/content/22/5/1310.long

In terms of ttc, if you're interested then you can do a bit of charting as well as JS. But nothing hardcore. Maximum of 3 months. JS is the main thing! (and of course checking you're immune to rubella, taking folic acid and vit d - you know all that stuff)

If you want to find a NFP teacher, check this list. It's the one that the fpa recommends for finding a teacher. Strictly speaking we're called fertility awareness teachers but lots of us call ourselves natural family planning teachers to avoid confusion - my name is Sarah and I'm in the London bit of the list - I'm assuming that this counts as info rather than advertising??

NicolaHazel · 21/07/2012 08:54

Funny!! :-)

fryingpantoface · 21/07/2012 08:47

I've never been as excited to have ertd in my life. DH and I even high fived

NicolaHazel · 21/07/2012 08:14

Ooh, lovely...and you may not have to swim here as it appears to be dry so far!

I shall have a wave whilst turning in a circle later, so I know I've somehow waved at you! :-)

WingDefence · 21/07/2012 08:10

*Southport, not Spithpoet. Obviously!

WingDefence · 21/07/2012 08:09

Oh and Nicola I'm coming to Spithpoet today for my DNiece's birthday party. I shall wave in a vague direction at you :)

WingDefence · 21/07/2012 08:07
NicolaHazel · 21/07/2012 07:47

Bet you've never been so pleased to see ERTD!

And I did think the doctor's advice was odd, as I was on the injection, and it is said that it can take 'up to' 2 years to return to normal. I'm seemingly ovulating / having ERTD after 4 months (though I was on the pill for 3 of those, so won't know if it could have happened sooner), so it shows how we are all different.

Best get JSing then shortly! :-)

fryingpantoface · 21/07/2012 07:05

Ertd has arrived!!
Stupid Dr!

WingDefence · 20/07/2012 22:18

Stuck, for your main question I'd say, yes to a certain extent I'm planning as if I will be pregnant in the next year (God willing!). Some things like holidays etc but last year I didn't actively chase a job lead partly because my current job has better maternity benefits now I've been there 5 years and also the new job would have meant longer hours and more travelling. (Obviously there were lots of other factors in that too.)

But back to your situation, how long would your DH be away for when he goes abroad?are you talking a month or six? Would it be long enough that you'd either visit him or he'd visit you? And is it that long that his company would pay for you to visit etc?

How does he feel about potentially missing the birth, regardless of where he is for work? E.g. With all the best will in the world, he could be in Paris but still not get back to you. If he's in Canada it might be longer before he can be back to you but let's say that you do get pg and he is then due to go away when you're going to be eight months pg, can he turn it down for a nearer role? Or can he say okay then but I may need to come back early or for two weeks straight after the birth?

Only you will know your situation...

Saranza I've never heard of a natural family planning teacher. I'm intrigued!

And Top, I used to audit NICE and did a big professional project based there for a few months. Now I only dealt with Head Office but they were a friendly enough bunch. Never discussed orgasms with them though! Grin

topbannana · 20/07/2012 17:13

I love the idea of NICE being a bit uptight and blushing slightly when it comes to orgasms :o :o :o

ChildOfThe1980s · 20/07/2012 17:00

Good to know we're going along the right lines. :)

Saranza · 20/07/2012 15:34

Great thread. Feel slightly dizzy from scanning through it all, and a bit like I'm butting in but hey, just wishing you all well. And thought you might like to know that JS every 2-3 days is in line with the current draft NICE Fertility guidance. So you could almost rename this Just Following NICE Guidance. JFNG - or maybe not. page 67 if anyone's interested: www.nice.org.uk/nicemedia/live/12157/59278/59278.pdf

And some of those little swimmers can hang around for 7 days, and orgasms do help to suck them up - so no need to deprive yourself. Though NICE is a bit quiet on orgasms for some reason...
