Your problem may be the condensed milk ... I believe that contains glucose and a key component, well it is in homemade I make

I haven’t seen these before - are they art supplies and blank paper or is the illustration shown on the pack actually included to copy? Paint by numbers? They look lovely but i am just not sure ! TIA!

I found here - they say their fudge is made without glucose or palm oil. Never tried fudge from there, but they seem to have good reviews

Yes, I think a few art supplies and plain paper from the description of the one I read - feels very expensive for what you get.

I don’t know if this is the price mentioned the other day but I bought a tub of Quality Street from Sainsbury’s for £3.95 with my Nectar card. They also had Celebrations I think it was and Roses discounted with a nectar card.

19 Sep (Saturday). One item refunded as it had gone out of stock and I've had that refund already. Wasn't an issue as that was an impulse addition :)

This was what was in one i got last year. It had a print with info about the artist on the back, a magazine with tips and techniques for using charcoal, a book of card and the charcoal so you could try using the tips and techniques to recreate the artists image or make your own.

New to this and I love this thread! Any advice, 7 and a 4 year old: we are pretty much screen free (just a little bit of tv now and again). However, my 7 year old is desperate for a games console as many of his friends have one. Is this a bad idea? If not, which one? Wondered about the Nex playground active play? Or would that just be an expensive alternative that doesn’t hit the mark. Any advice gratefully received x

One of mine had a Switch at around 7. It has a great range of games that can grow with them, and we particularly liked that you can play as a family by connecting up more controllers. We still have it 7 years later and it's still played with all the time.

We're also a low screen household. We have a playstation that was DH's before we met, which we stream TV through. Have downloaded some classic games onto there for my kids (7&5). Hasn't been an issue getting them off it at all tbh, but the 'when can we watch/play' questions have increased tremendously since we started introducing it. Would say having some clear cut expectations for when it will be on has helped. For example we initially said a Friday after school (though then found they didn't want us to do anything else on a Friday as it impacted their screen time 😅so switched to Sunday afternoon/evening when we're usually home anyway) and if someone in the house is ill, or we'd already spent the bulk of the day outside. Helps them to have an idea of.when it'll be a yes. Seemed to decrease the pestering anyway!. Also have a visual timer, once that goes off we finish the current game and the console goes off. It's actually really lovely to play together as a family and I've also been considering the switch as there are more games we like the look of compared to the PS. But DH isn't keen just yet.

@CP675 I agree with lemon, we are a low screen household but have had educational apps on an iPad and then my DH bought a secondhand Nintendo DS a few years ago. We just have strict rules around how much time our DC can play on screens, what has to be done first etc and it’s just never been a problem. We might say “You can have half an hour on the DS when your room is tidy/homework done, then your sister can have half an hour and then it’s off”. It’s just never been a problem.

My eldest was probably around 9 and youngest 8 when they both got a switch using their Christmas money. They went through phases, we had family friendly games to play on the TV (can't think of the name but it's something like Mario party) mario kart is also a good one for everyone to join in if you buy extra controllere. They actually found a lot of games frustrating so didn't actually on on their switches that much. Roll on til now and in the last year of primary school my son really got into Minecraft. We do have to try and limit it and he does sometimes get banned and locked out of it because we feel he has had too much time on it. However it is hard as it's one of the main ways he socialises with friends so I feel like I want him to be able to connect with friends in some way.
My daughter doesn't go on hers at all now (But again needs restricting on her tablet as else she just watches nonsense).
