Independent Midwives survey

The Indepenedent Midwives association is conducting a survey of midwives and mothers regarding a proposal to change the way maternity care is delivered. I have not read it all through myself yet but apparently it is a proposal for NHS midwives to work in a similar fashion to them, contracted by the NHS.

I thought mumsnet is the ideal place to canvass women. Let me know what you think.

Have just done it Mears. What a lovely idea. I had a fantastic community midwife ante and post natally- would have loved to have had her in with me for labour. The midwives I had were all lovely don't get me wrong but to have the same midwife throughout would be fantastic. The survey does only take a couple of minutes.

I just did it and it didn't take too long. I think it is an interesting proposal and it is certainly how i would like to work. I love looking after friends because I know what their hopes and aspirations are for labour. I love working in the labour ward but I think it is such a shame that women meet the midwife there for the first time (in our hospital anyway). I would prefer to have the best of both worlds. And I would love to experience looking after a woman in labour at home.
