the shock of becoming a grandmother next year is morphing into surprise and excitement

but also anxiety that, if a boy, might be called cassius

I like her suggestions for girl's names, especially Harmony as have niece called Melody and nephew called Jazz and other musical themed names throughout wider family, is a nice tradition

so suppose am asking primarily for boy's name ideas to suggest in helpful way (she does WANT ideas) - have trawled this section (ok have scanned one or two pages) and nothing feels a particularly good fit so far

Well... here's my (musically oriented) list:

I have to say, I'm a fan of 'surname' names (I know not everyone is!)

Lennon
Bard
Costello
Piper

I have to say, Harper is my favourite. I'd use that... (I have a Harrison already!)

I like (except is not my favourite pope)

is good to be able to offer opinions that are not mine, as can see that wanting to use name of one of our old cats is not ideal

or ziggy stardust or whatever

the things that go through own mind are supremely unhelpful to be honest

(am terrified of becoming interfering old bat actually, the father grew up in a very different sort of household and I hope I don't end up sticking my oar in if he brings scary ideas like smacking etc)

Oh, sorry.. I thought perhaps you;d taken it upon yourself...

Harper??

MitchyInge · 06/07/2010 13:38

um just because it has unfavourable connotations, like that one who was put to death

obviously will be thrilled to have grandchild either way, daughter just ASKED me to garner some more ideas that's all

What's wrong with Cassius?

Honestly, unless they were planning on calling him SuperMan Jesus the third, i think you should be happy with a healthy grandson.

And you should be happy that they are telling you. I didn't tell anyone about the names I'd chosen with DH. In fact, I didn't even tell my mother I was PG with DS, I made DH do it.

If I were you, I'd be pleased with the relationship you have with them. If they saw this thread, that might change
