Cleo or Margot

What do you prefer?

I love both, husband thinks Margot will get the nickname Maggot and my hairdresser thought it was pronounced with a hard T at the end which has put me off a bit. Are we overthinking?

Help!

Another vote for Cleo
love it!

Sugarfree23 · 23/06/2023 01:26

Cleo sounds like a pets name

I prefer Margot but what about Margo?

DramaAlpaca · 23/06/2023 01:20

Cleo is gorgeous.

Margot just - isn't. It's ugly.

KirstenBlest · 22/06/2023 22:52

Don't spell it Margaux, she'll be correcting the spelling a lot

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 22/06/2023 21:40

DS was going to be Cleo. Lovely name.

QuimReaper · 22/06/2023 21:26

Oops - if you must use it, spell it Margaux, much more sophisticated.

QuimReaper · 22/06/2023 21:26

The popularity of Margot mystifies me, I think it's awful. If y

Irishmummy6363 · 22/06/2023 21:17

Like Margot way better than Cleo

KirstenBlest · 20/06/2023 17:34

@Silentreader , it's probably because the name Margot is associated with a very attractive celebrity. The same was probably true of Darcey.

Sarahtm35 · 20/06/2023 16:42

I prefer Cleo as I wouldn’t want my daughter being named after some actress from the wolf of Wall Street personally.

Silentreader · 20/06/2023 16:39

Wow, I'm really surprised how unpopular Margot is! Especially as it's climbing up the baby name ranks but thank you all for your feedback 😅

We have finally decided on Cleo.. I feel it's a bit of a fresher, younger name but can equally see it working for her at any age.

Now to pick a middle name!...

The car is Clio not Cleo.

(I like Clio too!)

She was the muse of history way before she was a car. .

continentallentil · 19/06/2023 23:25

Cleo - although I think I like Clio better still

I also really like Margot but it’s very very popular right now

LilyLemonade · 19/06/2023 21:34

Hollyppp · 19/06/2023 21:27

sunnydayys · 19/06/2023 19:57

Sorry I don't like Cleo, she'll get nicknamed Renault

cptartapp · 19/06/2023 19:52

Many many Margots at the minute.
I would avoid.

KirstenBlest · 19/06/2023 19:39

Cleo, definitely.

Napoleandynamite · 19/06/2023 19:34

Love the name Margot

SpringIntoChaos · 19/06/2023 19:12

Margot is awful. And I know two fat little pug dogs called Margot (obvs not in the same family...that would be weird 🤣) so to me it's a fat pug dog name!

Also...yeah, Maggot 🤣

Not keen on Cleo either...it's a car 🚗

I do like Chloe though (as per the typo upthread ⬆️) or Meg, instead of Margot?

AllPlayedOut · 19/06/2023 18:49

Cleo is great. I really dislike Margot. I find it a very unattractive name.

PossiblyNotOne · 19/06/2023 18:22

Cleo, I really dislike Margot.

Help!

My own name is often abbreviated to Cleo with some friends calling me ‘Cle’, and I honestly hate my name!

Have you ever seen the mermaid show? So many people say my name in an Aussie accent now as a joke. It goes through my head! Google H20 Cleo.
