Violet

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 29/06/2023 17:51

The baby is around 9 months old now...

goodmother90 · 29/06/2023 17:49

I prefer Ada

Topazbutterfly · 29/06/2023 17:47

I really like Violet, I think it's a lovely name

salamithumbs · 29/06/2023 15:32

I much prefer Ada, Violet sounds slightly timid to my ears (like shrinking violet) but also reminds me of violent and violate! I do like Viola though!

MarriedMama23 · 29/06/2023 01:39

Both of my great grandmothers were named Ada. It's very dated. I'd go with Violet. Or Viola

Daisybuttercup12345 · 29/06/2023 01:11

I would call her Ada Violet.
Both pretty names.

JamSandle · 29/06/2023 01:04

Violet

peaceinourtime · 29/06/2023 00:19

I don't get the violent/violence references on this thread to the name Violet. Yes its a well known name but I don't see how it can make people think of violet/violence.

OopsieeDaisy · 28/06/2023 22:38

Not overly keen on Violet, I Like Ada and it’s a much softer sounding name to me, although Ada Violet is also nice as pp have said.

Avavlon · 28/06/2023 19:32

I had two aunts one ada one violet, ada was the nice one lol and it also my second name,I was very embarrassed by it growing up and was really surprised when it became popular but if I was having any more DC I'd chose ada really glad it being used again
I like violet but not good menorys for me but it a nice name not keen on vi

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 11/10/2022 03:09

Violet is so pretty.Congratulations on the birth of your daughter 💐

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 11/10/2022 02:05

Violet. Much prettier than Ada.

DramaAlpaca · 11/10/2022 01:58

Violet, of the two.

If Ada was in fact Ava, I'd choose that.

I think Violet has a more elegant feel, like Ava. In comparison, Ada seems a bit blue-rinse and dowdy.

Lovestodrinkmilk · 10/10/2022 18:16

Both are lovely. You could use both. In either order.

RuthW · 10/10/2022 17:43

I like both but Violet is certainly less popular than Ada at the moment.

I love Ada, I thought I was having an Ada but he came out a George 🙃.

What about Ada Violet or do you have another middle name in mind?

Congratulations!

Ha! Mine was going to be an Ada but mine came out a George too!

Rockingcloggs · 10/10/2022 17:31

Ada! Every time! If I had a little girl (no chance now!) she'd be an Ada! Do it for me pleaaase!!

mollyminniemo · 10/10/2022 17:27

Both beautiful names and considered both, but just adore Violet. So beautiful without being twee.

decodecolife · 09/10/2022 05:48

Although like the others have said, Ada is very 'now' and has had a sudden surge in popularity, meaning it will feel dated again when she's older and feel like an 'old lady name' again.

Adeline might give her a bit more flexibility with that, plus it's pretty to boot.

decodecolife · 09/10/2022 05:46

What about Adeline nn Ada?

Violet is nice but the nn Vi is awful, and she would definitely be called that.

funzeny · 09/10/2022 04:59

@GonnaGetGoingReturns it was an older name. Then didn't hear it for years then I think Peaky Blinders brought it into fashion

Billylilly · 09/10/2022 04:53

I love both but I think Violet is a better long term name. I feel like Ada could become the female version of Arlo, Albie etc

SausageMonkey2 · 08/10/2022 18:29

Ada. Was our second choice!

sageandbasil · 08/10/2022 18:26

Violet
