Guessing game V!

Merry twixmas! Xmas Grin

We have reached thread 5(!) of the baby names Guessing Game.

This was the (brilliant) brain child of @scotstar back in March 2018. Smile

All are welcome, rules of this game are pretty straightforward - someone describes a name. Whoever solves the clues is then in charge of describing the next name. Simple! Make the clues as fiendish or straightforward as you like. Grin

Dorothea/Dory/Thea?

OP posts:
htbzllhcR · 29/12/2020 17:22

None of those names are involved.

Another clue:

Whilst one of the parts that makes up this name is the name of a British Royal, the other part is a shortened version of a name that translates to mean 'Queen'.

TheRealBoswell · 29/12/2020 19:44

Maria?

htbzllhcR · 29/12/2020 20:47

The name is for a female, but of the two parts, one part of it is a male name.

finallychangedmyusername · 29/12/2020 21:53

I keep coming back to either Rhiannon or Rihanna?

OP posts:
htbzllhcR · 29/12/2020 22:51

None of those or their components, unfortunately, sorry!

I think you might be nearly at the right 'Queen' translation... but it's hard to know where the guessers thoughts are at 🤔

Maybe it will help to say that for the component of the name, we're looking for a nickname taken from, specifically, the late Latin translation of Queen. 👑

finallychangedmyusername · 29/12/2020 23:00

Ooh, Georgina? Or Georgiana?

OP posts:
Scotstar · 29/12/2020 23:08

Cant believe this is still going!

finallychangedmyusername · 29/12/2020 23:12

Xmas Grin @Scotstar, you started something epic!

OP posts:
finallychangedmyusername · 30/12/2020 09:28

I'm convinced with Georgina! Grin

It's in two parts: George (British Royal male name) and Gina (Regina is Latin for Queen).

But I'm struggling with what George rhymes with as a French designer label! Confused

That's right, Georgina!

George and Gina combined.

I had separated the syllables more like "Geor - Gina", with Geor 'roughly rhyming' with Dior, a French designer label (not the best clue I admit).

George - a British Royal name - both Prince George and King George.

Regina is Latin for Queen, Gina being the nickname.

Well done @finallychangedmyusername, over to you!

Love the new username @StopOvaryActing! Grin

Let's see how this one grabs you all:

He's the best, but if you break him down he's to the limit, a ubiquitous character, a marigold, an echo, a relaxing sound, and he signifies a disagreement.

Oops, didn't mean to post under this username - oh well! I work in Gynae so it works 😂
finallychangedmyusername · 31/12/2020 12:12

Grin @StopOvaryActing

He's Spanish, and he's to the upper limit.

OP posts:
StopOvaryActing · 01/01/2021 16:58

Struggling with this one!

finallychangedmyusername · 01/01/2021 17:09

The "breaking him down" is into syllables. Smile

OP posts:
StarfishExpress · 01/01/2021 17:27

Max? Maximus?

finallychangedmyusername · 02/01/2021 17:36

@StarfishExpress is close!

OP posts:
finallychangedmyusername · 04/01/2021 13:39

He has many syllables!

OP posts:
LadyGAgain · 05/01/2021 00:13

Maximilian

finallychangedmyusername · 05/01/2021 15:07

Correct @LadyGAgain!
The Spanish name Maximiliano means "the greatest".

Break him down into syllables:

To the upper limit = max
A ubiquitous character = the letter E - sounding "ee"
A marigold = rhyming slang for a million/"mill".
An echo = NATO alphabet for the letter E / "ee" sound
A relaxing sound = "ahhhhh"
Signifies a disagreement = no

Well I needed a lot of help! Well done with your clues and input from fellow guessers.

New clue:

A shortening:
A small fruit - jelly anyone?
Multi award winning - a bit off the wall
And
A doctor in the Wild West

finallychangedmyusername · 07/01/2021 22:05

Thanks @LadyGAgain, I'm drawn to Quince/Quinn?

OP posts:
LadyGAgain · 07/01/2021 22:19

Spot on! That was very quick. It's Quinn - shortening of Quince (jelly) and Quincy Jones who won many Grammys and produced MJ's off the wall album. And of course Dr Quinn Medicine Woman. Over to you @finallychangedmyusername !

finallychangedmyusername · 08/01/2021 23:15

It was Dr Quinn Medicine Woman that cracked it for me! Loved that programme!Smile

Here's another:

Name linking an alien line manager, reservoirs, a teddy and cartoon farm.
