Our surname is Meadows and I love the name Hazel, just wondering if it would be ok?

It sounds a but like a nursing home or something to me. It is a lovely name though. Maybe look for a different style of name...perhaps nature names will just not go with your surname.

BlytheOfWindyWillows · 22/01/2017 11:44

It's a street in Hucknall Smile

GinIsIn · 22/01/2017 08:48

It does sound like a nursing home. Sorry!

DowhatIwanttodo · 22/01/2017 08:46

I don't like the name Hazel anyway. I know lots of Hazels 50+ and they are a type. Not a cool name.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 22/01/2017 06:41

No. Your suspicions are correct. It sounds silly. Lots of lovely non-nature names out there.

Mol1628 · 22/01/2017 06:41

Not with that surname no.

Pluto30 · 22/01/2017 06:35

Sounds v similar to the retirement village my DH owns. Grin

I love Hazel, but I'd scratch it with your surname.

SuffolkingGrand · 22/01/2017 06:14

Retirement home.

KoalaDownUnder · 22/01/2017 06:07

No. I think it sounds silly, TBH - housing estate or retirement home.

Barnes79 · 21/01/2017 14:16

It does sound like a place (but love the name Hazel). I have a similar issue as my surname is Barnes (which could also be spelt Barns) and then can sound like a place if the wrong first name is used e.g., Jackson or Harrison

Ham69 · 15/01/2017 10:15

I can't see a problem with it. Pretty name and not too twee IMO.

howtheheckdoidealwiththis · 14/01/2017 20:39

Charming. Just love it! I'd use it. Surnames change so if you love Hazel go for it.

TDmoocher · 14/01/2017 20:29

According to Google it's a street in Nottingham

spankhurst · 14/01/2017 19:50

I love both names but it does sound like a location. Meadows is a gorgeous surname.

onlymrsmac · 14/01/2017 19:43

I love it Star

Lilaclily · 14/01/2017 19:38

Not a fan tbh

OutDamnedWind · 14/01/2017 19:36

It's a bit on the twee side but I don't think it's a pisstakibg name. Hazel trees don't tend to come in meadows! It's not like it's Poppy Fields or Polly Esther Cotton.

Dolwar · 14/01/2017 18:19

Yes if you don't mind her having the p*ss taken out of her for it her entire unmarried life

TeethDrama · 13/01/2017 21:34

I think it's fine, Hazel Meadows. A little on the Maisie Raine or Rosemary & Thyme side of things... (in fact has there not been a TV series featuring someone called Hazel Meadows or similar?)

If not then why not. Meadows though... what a dream of a surname especially for a girl!! So pretty and goes with so many things! Just as well my surname isn't Meadows (also, I haven't got a girl!) because I would be going all-out on the frilly first names. I wouldn't be able to resist Grin

Annabelle Meadows.. ahh...

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 13/01/2017 21:10

I also think it sounds like a "thing". Either a housing estate or a nursing home mainly.

Hazel is a pretty name, but I wouldn't use it with your surname. Sorry!

Nonameyet1 · 13/01/2017 21:07

I don't love it but kind of sweet.

ExpectoPatronummmm · 13/01/2017 20:21

I think it sounds like a housing estate
(Sorry)

PointlessUsername · 13/01/2017 18:19

Sounds pretty.

MarmiteDoesYouGood · 13/01/2017 18:18

Why wouldn't it be?
