Could I have your thoughts please. I am not sure if I like it or if it is too made up sounding.

I much prefer Lena or Callie or Callista.

YouAreMyRain · 18/02/2015 08:46

How about Calendula? It's a flower often used therapeutically.

caughtinthemoment · 17/02/2015 23:15

What about Galina pronounced Ga-lee-na? I know somebody with this name who has Russian parents.

ChickenMe · 17/02/2015 15:03

I do think it sounds made up, sorry. The Cal eh na pronounciation lacks substance and Caleena sounds strange. If you like Callie then I think you could go for Caroline or Carolina?

florascotia · 17/02/2015 14:52

In Spanish, 'Calena' means 'woman from the city of Cali, in Colombia'. It is also (I think) a variety of salsa dance.

shipsinthenight · 17/02/2015 14:25

Yes, not just the pronounciation issues here...

what about Cliodhna? Klee er na

SunnyBaudelaire · 17/02/2015 12:43

it sounds like a vaginal pessary.

BlueChampagne · 17/02/2015 12:42

Greek Nereid Galena?

sherbetpips · 17/02/2015 12:32

like callie but otherwise it sounded like a thrush infection

Leeds2 · 17/02/2015 12:28

Sounds medical to me too!

Callie is lovely.

LollyLondon · 17/02/2015 12:10

Sounds like a sugar substitute or medication.

lemonpoppyseed · 17/02/2015 05:56

I know a Kalyna. There's something about the K spelling that looks better when it's written...

ChinngisKhan · 17/02/2015 02:05

Sounds medical to me I'm afraid. My first thought was "excema cream". Sorry.

Pinksun12 · 17/02/2015 01:58

I know a baby called Kalina (ca-lee-na). Parents are Polish.

BunnyLebowski · 17/02/2015 01:51

Sounds like a contraceptive pill.

Love Callie though.

Qwebec · 17/02/2015 01:44

like the Calayna pronounciation

reuset · 16/02/2015 22:36

I'm sure it isn't, but it sounds made up. Not my cup of tea.

And it sounds like 'cleaner' depending on which pronunciation you plump for.

crje · 16/02/2015 21:16

Not a fan
Agree it sounds medical

MishMooshAndMogwai · 16/02/2015 21:09

Hmm cal-eh-nah sounds a bit...I don't know rather short and harsh to me, sorry.

Cal- ay-na sounds better to my ears but she'd spend an awfully long time correcting people I think.

Maybe an extra letter would help with the longer pronounciation such as caleyna but you're verging on the realms of the made up there aren't you and she'll be be forever correcting spelling.

Not much help from me there, sorry! I do like the sound of the longer pronounciation and would consider it for my list as it reminds me of the first p?ace dp and I went on holiday (Calella) but the spelling issue would probably keep it off the list.

backinaminute · 16/02/2015 20:53

Sorry but it also sounds medical to me. This is a bit harsh but it made me think of a contraceptive pill. Blush

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 16/02/2015 20:46

It sounds vaguely medical to me. Not in a good way.

YouAreMyRain · 16/02/2015 20:44

How do you pronounce it? Surely it would sound like calendar or cleaner?
