Should I deliberately choose a 'good boy' name? Suggestions please

I think I may have inadvertently chosen a slightly naughty/mischievous (possibly neutral) but definitely not a 'good boy' name for my ds1.

Ds2 is due soon and I have selected a similar name (don't want to share the names though)

However I was thinking of changing the chosen name for something that is definitely known as a 'good boy' name. I hope that ds2 is better behaved and an easier, more compliant child all round :)

And I was after some suggestions to see what your opinions are and if I like any of them.

I've read somewhere that George and Max are goody names, and the naughty is always Kyle.
(I wanted DS3 to be Kyle, and several people told me that he'll be on the naughty list)

YES Kyle, and Kai,and Jayden.Or any mix of those like Kaiden or Kayden
.
I have George and Max,like i said my George is a monkey but yes Max is a good boy, although there was another Max in his class when he was at school who was a ratbag.

PI thought I'd picked a nice girls name for dd.

Then years ago there was some "alternative name meaning" thing and for dd's name it said "lives on a council estate, will be pregnant at 16".

I'd always thought it was a slightly posh 80s style name and I think when I was younger maybe it was. I recently met someone in her early 20s with the same name and told her this and she laughed and reckons it is a bit of a "rough" name these days.

Oh well, can't change it.

I love the name John, and thought about calling DS1 that. My mum and dad said definitely don't! In their experience Johns " never turn out right". Confused
My DB is called John!!

DogCalledRudis · 06/06/2014 12:32

John! I always fancied John, but my DH said 'over my dead body', his middle name is John

Can you see your child in a whole range of careers with your chosen name ( Moonbeam Smith, M.P, Dr Jaymz Smith or whatever) and how will you feel yelling it across a park or in a supermarket aisle.

Once you have satisfied yourself that you are comfortable in all these scenarios, just pick a name you like.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/06/2014 12:42

All the Daniel's I've ever known have a been a bit naughty, in a cheeky chap kind of way.

AMI88 · 06/06/2014 13:03

Speaking as someone who has looked after children for over 8yrs you will be bitterly disappointed if you think a name has anything to do with good/bad behaviour.

Any child has the ability to misbehave, it's not got anything to do with their name, but their personalities and how they are disciplined.

Good luck!

Madamecastafiore · 06/06/2014 14:12

Is it too late to change Dd3 name?

squoosh · 06/06/2014 14:25

I’m sure there plenty of naughty boys at Eton called George and William just as there are plenty of naughty boys elsewhere called Kai and Kyle.

No such thing as a 'good' boy name or a 'naughty' boy name.

Pick a name you like and raise him not to be a brat. Job done.

rachel234 · 06/06/2014 14:55

Exactly, it's got to do with how the kids are disciplined. And when studies show a correlation between names and behaviour then what they're really showing is that parents who like certain names have a certain type of parenting style (and perhaps don't discipline their kids enough).

Shouldwego · 06/06/2014 14:59

Haha, I've seen both DS's names on this page. One supposedly naughty and one supposedly good. My two are the opposite of what their names say they should be per this page!

RAFWife12 · 06/06/2014 20:41

My MIL has told us not to use our favourite boys name as "all boys with that name are little shits". We have tried explaining to her that it's not a name that shapes personality - it's the way you raise them. She won't change her mind.
We still plan to use that name if we have a boy.
