DH was nearly an Edmund, but his mum was worried he'd get called Eddie. So she called him Richard, and he gets called Dickie. Can't win. :)

He always wishes he'd been called Edmund, incidentally, and I think it's a lovely name - classic and yet slightly unusual.

I really, really wanted an Edmund. However, it can be shortened to Ned which, here in Scotland, is not a very nice term ( similar to Chav) so it had to be vetoed.

I like Edmund a lot (but must admit that Mansfield Park is my favourite Jane Austen novel).

I also like Edgar, which you don't run into that often.
