Something 'cutesy' but uncommon

I have always loved names like Daisy, Poppy, Molly, Lily, etc. However I want something slightly more unusual for our DD. Does anybody have any suggestions, please? Thanks.

letsblowthistacostand · 03/04/2012 20:46

I knew a Blythe in school, i've always loved it.

LesAnimaux · 03/04/2012 20:09

Martha is gorgeous.

SkiBumMum · 03/04/2012 19:30

We sometimes pick barristers for their stupid names. Mr T.Otty gets a lot of work from my team Grin

TabloidTart · 03/04/2012 19:24

We have a Beatrice, nn Bessie. I like Louisa, nn LouLou too...

OriginalJamie · 03/04/2012 19:18

Betsy and Betty - I love both a lot and they could be Elizabeth (which I think is so amazing and timeless) and then be either of those for nn, thus solving the barrister issue Smile

letsblowthistacostand · 03/04/2012 18:54

Or what about Blythe?

letsblowthistacostand · 03/04/2012 18:53

Mabel nn Maybe? Was my first choice for dd2 but dh vetoed.

doctordwt · 03/04/2012 14:29

Silks - no just having a silly moment!! - evidently Blush started off with fairly normal and quickly got to the mad end of cutesy... Like Bliss, though...

notreallycommittedtonicknames · 03/04/2012 14:26

Elsa - if you like Elsie but want something more uncommon. I like Livvy for Olivia too. And Lottie

SoupDragon · 03/04/2012 13:30

Generally speaking, I prefer a long name which can have a cute nickname.

eg DD gets called Wren a lot but it isn't her name and she is a big galumphing monster of a child

quickhide · 03/04/2012 13:28

How about Elizabeth? Endless cutesy nicknames and I've never met a baby Elizabeth (and my DDs are 4 and 2 so we know a lot of little girls!)

Pheobe

Nancy

Both could be carried off by a criminal Barister IMO

TwllBach · 03/04/2012 12:30

I think Felicity is lovely, and Fliss is a cute nn

duchesse · 03/04/2012 12:28

How about Sidonie?

seeker · 03/04/2012 12:20

At least give her a serious long name.

Penelope (Penny)
Catherine (kitty)
Sarah. (Sally)
Margaret (Daisy)

SoozleQ · 03/04/2012 12:15

Ha ha, I'm a lawyer and people with unusual names on their practising certificate get mercilessly ribbed about it - full names, including all those cringeworthy family middle names, have to be displayed in full :) To be fair it's usually only the blokes with really daft names!

Anyway, my suggestion is Eloise. Has anyone suggested Kitty or Norah?

MarieFromStMoritz · 03/04/2012 11:57

seeker, I don't think the names suggested here would be inappropriate for a lawyer, tbh. And the only emo girl I know has a very cutesy name. And it suits her.

OP posts:
seeker · 03/04/2012 11:37

Are you absolutely sure your Emo teenager or your kick- ass criminal barrister adult daughter will thank you for a cutesy name?

MarieFromStMoritz · 03/04/2012 11:35

There are some really lovely suggestions here, I am compiling a shortlist. Please keep them coming Smile
