Oooh the joy of a shortlist finally!!!!

I finally pinned my husband down ( not literally!! ) to making a names shortlist - was very :o that he actually stopped working for one evening!!!

So here they are, your (gentle) thoughts please?

Girls - middle name will be Lily for family connection.
Megan
Jemima
Harriet (Hattie)

Boys - middle name likely to be Austin
Leo
Henry
Arthur
Luke
Possibly Austin as first name.

Disclaimer: I'm a fussy old bat and prone to changing my mind :)

Love all three of your girls names, possibly Jemima most

Think Henry Austin or Arthur Austin sound better together than Leo or Luke

Not sure about Austin as a first name though, because I am an old-fashioned bat probably Grin

Love Harriet (Harriet Vane in Lord Peter Wimsey books).

Boys - I really really like Arthur and Henry. Leo is good too, I know a small Leo and it really suits him, nice as it tends not to be shortened. Everyone can always spell those too.

Not keen on Luke or Austin.

LOVE your boys name except Austin,as a first name and Luke (the rest are on my list :) )

Jemima is pretty, not keen on Megan (I know lots of them) and I also like Harriet.

The Austin Powers connection is frustrating and off putting, but it is a family name which will be lost forever if it isn't used, and is the only connection left to my Grandad... see where I'm going?!

I love Jemima, concerns me that it is a bit posh for us but we'll see what she (if we have a girl!) looks like when here.

I think my preference is Henry for the boys names, but I have found boys names much, much harder.

Interesting to hear other people's opinions though :) I'm not telling anyone in RL until baby is here and named, and I'm sure my other DCs will have some input.

Harriet is beautiful. Harriet Lily....... Beautiful!
Prefer Austin as a first name TBH. Austin Henry. Depending on your surname of course.

I'd go with Harriet Lily and either Henry Austin or Austin Henry

Not keen on Austin as a first name but fine in the middle for family reasons. I actually like all your choices (good taste :) ) but my favourites would probably be Jemima Lily and Henry Austin.

Lovely to get such positive responses from you all, its reassuring to know I'm not completely addled by the pregnancy hormones! I made the mistake of telling my mum the shortlist; she didn't like any of them. I just sighed and said oh well, good job its not for you to like. That didn't go down well, either...

I love Jemima Lily too - but this was the one that met with the worst reaction from DM. DH loves Harriet :)

Boys are so hard! I really like Leo, but hear Sayers afterwards LOL.... Henry a close 2nd I think. But Arthur is also a close second!!! I guess we'll have to wait and see what s/he looks like!

We named our dd Harriet Alice, she's nearly 3 months old now & we've had really positive reactions from everyone who's heard her name.
Also really like jemima though. Very under-used imo.

DON 'T like Harriet, Henry, Leo or Arthur (unless going to be called Art which is fab)

The rest are ok - if you love them that's fine, but don't do much for me.
