DS one week old now and no name so please help!

Our son is a week old and we still can't decide on his name. I love the name Finn but am wondering whether it would be better to call him Finley or Finlay.

I am also on the verge of wondering whether we should just stick to sensible James instead. So confused and sleep deprived, I just can't make a decision! Please help by letting me know your thoughts! Thanks

If it makes u feel any better ds is nameless at 15days old... we couldn't agree either and now he's gonna be James or Aidan. Finlay was on an earlier list! So I applaud if good taste, and equally sympathise with how stressful it is. Good luck x

Finn is a classic and timeless name. There are many Finns of all ages.

I have one and he is simply scrummy.

Finlay because that's the way most people spell it so it will make life easier for him. Always go for the most obvious spelling. I speak as one who has a common (for my generation) name but with a traditional but unusual spelling. It is very very annoying!

About 5 years ago I did not know a single Fin/Finn and have never known any grown up Fins (we're in England). I now know at least 10 little Fins under the age of ten. So the name has definately become much more widely used as it has become more popular. Such names will eventually fall out of favour and start to feel more dated than names which have always been moderatly popular.

I'd choose James.

Finbar? Finlo? There are quite a few fin's where i live, because it's a celtic/irish name. I think it's lovely though. any decisions yet? congrats btw!

Def James all the way, do not like Finn at all.
