Is this name too poncey for a boy?

Well I don't think so - but I have had it said to me (whatever it means). Let me know what you think. I don't want to saddle my boy with an crap awful name. But I really like it.

Julian??? Anyone?

I like it, although I think it's one of those names that depends very much upon the person who has it (ie on some it will seem quite strong and cool, on others a bit wet).

julian is nice, maybe quite posh but thats certainly preferably to being on the slightly chav slope imo

Julian in FF wasn't so bad (and better than his brother Dick - now that's an unfortunate name). I like Julian actually - a little boy I know in Germany is called Julian, though pronounced differently.

On the subject of bad names in children's literature, wasn't one of the Swallows & Amazon kids called Titty? And I THINK she had a brother called Roger.... ah, nostalgia for more innocent times..... Grin

Jules is v v nice shortened version. Julian is a bit mean to some other children in one of the Famous Five books if you ask me....

A bit wet, but if that's the worst I can say about it, not bad at all compared to many other names you could choose.

I like it. I've known several Julians and none of them have been in the least bit poncey. It's a classy name.

I like it. Step-FIL's ds is called Julian. Step-FIL is a totally non-poncy Jamaican!

It is a nice name, but I think it is a bit girly (too close to Julia, Julianna, Julianne).

Love the name Tristan though.

Julius leans towards the grandiose, but Julian is pretty normal (but then I know a good few Julians/Tristans/Quentins etc)
