Thanks everyone - there's loads of names here I never would have thought of :) I'll have to have a good think about it. Dh will veto everything non traditional though but it's worth a go.

I'm really liking Lucinda. Lucy and Emily were both on my shortlist but are way too popular at the moment.

NNs for Lucinda? Lu, Lucy, Cindy, Cinderella? Hmm

I'll try to come up with a top 10.....

My sister is called Lucinda - she was known as LuLu when she was very liitle (until she got fed up of me and my cousins singing Lu Lu skip to the Loo at her) and is now Lucy. Or Lulabelle to my parents.

The whole matching names thing is completely lost on me I'm afraid, it's all just a bit twee IMO.

However in the spirit of the thread I'll add

Savannah

Finessa · 03/04/2011 19:23

Ha ha - now if I was matching I would be going for Jessica and Jocasta or Jessica and Jemima!

I'm just coming to the same conclusion as last time. We have an unusual 2 syllable surname which is also a noun. A 1 syllable name sounds odd (think Joe Table), 2 syllables sound okay but not great, 3 sounds fab and 4 becomes a real mouthful.

I also have Emily, Lucy and Hannah on the shortlist but Lucy and Hannah just don't sound quite so good.

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 03/04/2011 21:49

Lucinda - like the name and it works with Jessica
Vanessa - too many sssssss sounds
Georgina - could do, it wouldn't sound too odd and nice name
Natasha - dislike the name
Clarissa - ssssssssss
Carlotta - to many ca
Matilda - like the name and the combination
Samantha - sssss
Melissa - sssssss
Belinda - the name puts me in mind of a cow for some reason
Roberta - love the name and combination
Yolanda - makes Jessica look a bit plain!

Finessa · 03/04/2011 22:45

Thanks for all your help everyone - so here's the latest list

Rebecca - love it but there may be too many Beccas around
Joanna - may be too similar to Jessica but there is a BIG age gap of 9 years (also she wants a girls name beginning with J!)
Louisa - love it but not sure about nns
Emily - top 10 - too popular in Scotland :(
Lucy - top 10 - too popular in Scotland :(
Lucinda - growing on me but not sure yet
Hannah - love it but doesn't sound quite right with surname
Matilda - seems very old lady to me but I know it's popular and is growing on me fast
Naomi - put off by supermodel
Stephanie - love this and there wouldn't be many around.

There weren't many Jessicas here 9 years ago so she has been the only one in her large primary school until two little ones started this year. I like names that are easily recognisable but not massively popular, which is not always easy as you never know which names will pop up next in the soaps/celebs.

Any comments please? Be gentle :) x
