My maiden name is Clements and i really wanted it as a first name. My DH says no. I have thought about it as a middle name, or maybe saving it for a second or third child by which time i might get my way if we go with his choice this time? Thoughts?

I know a Clementine and I have never liked it. A lovely lady but not a nice name! Sorry!

Love it but it meets with a lot of resistance from family members....

I may push for it as a mn.

Did you know that Winston churchills wife was called Clementine?

Oh My Darling!

I'd use it in the middle, or choose a different variant, such as Clemency, Clemence or Clementina.

I loved it but it was totally vetoed by my DP, until he saw practically turn myself inside out trying to get our 10lb DD out, then saw me sliced open and her unfurl out the sun roof.

After all that he relented and it is DD's middle name, DP loves it now!

Clementine is lovely, but I'm not sure it grows with the child, it's very cutesy to me.

I love it. I had a school friend called Clementine, and it suited her perfectly. She was very pretty, sweet and clever.

The French name is Clement, its a mans name, prounounced Clay-mon (the T is silent). I lived in France and did come accross it a couple of times. Nice but this is for a girl and I'm not French at all, sadly

There's a french name Clemence (not sure of spelling), it's pronounced Cler-monce.

Would your dh go for that?

I also had Clio, Penelope (as well as other) on the list.
