My maiden name is Clements and i really wanted it as a first name. My DH says no. I have thought about it as a middle name, or maybe saving it for a second or third child by which time i might get my way if we go with his choice this time? Thoughts?

I like it. Was on my short list for ds - until he turned out to be a ds!

I also had Clio, Penelope (as well as other) on the list.

coco2901 · 14/01/2011 14:36

I love it!!!! But my OH would never allow it.... :( I love Clemmie as a nn too

purplefeet · 14/01/2011 15:06

There's a french name Clemence (not sure of spelling), it's pronounced Cler-monce.

Would your dh go for that?

flopsy1974 · 14/01/2011 15:48

I think it is a lovely, unusual name.

LetThereBeRock · 14/01/2011 16:51

I hate it.It seems to be very popular on here, and I can't understand why.

talkingnonsense · 14/01/2011 16:53

Love it-and Clemency?

piprabbit · 14/01/2011 16:54

"Light she was and like a fairy,

And her shoes were number nine,

Herring boxes without topses

Sandals were for Clementine"

Cruel, very cruel.

BendyBob · 14/01/2011 16:54

It does make me think of satsumas.

shouldnotbehere · 14/01/2011 16:55

Love it. Dh would never agree though. Would be a great middle name.

The French name is Clement, its a mans name, prounounced Clay-mon (the T is silent). I lived in France and did come accross it a couple of times. Nice but this is for a girl and I'm not French at all, sadly

I like it, my friend just called her dd Clementine.

LoopyLoopsIsNoLongerFestive · 14/01/2011 19:29

I love it. I had a school friend called Clementine, and it suited her perfectly. She was very pretty, sweet and clever.

taintedpaint · 14/01/2011 19:29

Clementine is lovely, but I'm not sure it grows with the child, it's very cutesy to me.

Giddyup · 14/01/2011 19:35

I loved it but it was totally vetoed by my DP, until he saw practically turn myself inside out trying to get our 10lb DD out, then saw me sliced open and her unfurl out the sun roof.

After all that he relented and it is DD's middle name, DP loves it now!

LoopyLoopsIsNoLongerFestive · 14/01/2011 19:35

Turn 18 and call her Orange?

Only kidding. I know two adult Clementines, and both are lovely.

muminheels · 14/01/2011 19:36

love it.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 14/01/2011 19:37

ComeAlongPond · 14/01/2011 19:40

Oh My Darling!

I'd use it in the middle, or choose a different variant, such as Clemency, Clemence or Clementina.

perpetuallypregnant · 17/01/2011 18:34

Love it but it meets with a lot of resistance from family members....

I may push for it as a mn.

Did you know that Winston churchills wife was called Clementine?

babybear1983 · 17/01/2011 19:14

I know a Clementine and I have never liked it. A lovely lady but not a nice name! Sorry!
