Has anyone ever put a name on here that no-one has disliked?

Dulcie - is it pronounced Dull-see or Dull-chee? In either case it starts with Dull, which is awful imo.

I hope that we can't find a name everyone loves - how boring would life be....

Wouldn't it be boring if we all choose mumsnet-approved names.....

Although while I like Anna (and have one myself), I really dislike Marianne and Dulcie Smile.

smother · 04/01/2011 10:32

I agree, I think that Anna, Marianne and Juliet tend to go down pretty well. Also Alice although that tends to get a 'bit popular' response too.

I also seem to remember Clara doing rather well on here, and once upon a time, Dulcie (I've been hanging around this site for far too long!!)

darleneconnor · 03/01/2011 00:31

Oh no, not Patrick? Surely other people dislike this name intensly?

freerangeeggs · 03/01/2011 00:05

sophiesmum I'm not a fan either, which is why it stuck in my head.

southeastastra · 02/01/2011 20:28

carrie or justine Wink

JamieLeeCurtis · 02/01/2011 20:27

Marianne. Juliet, Elizabeth, Emma

Patrick,Matthew,

Jasper seems to be strangely popular on here (not my cup of tea, but ...)

ilovesprouts · 02/01/2011 19:51

i remember when i put my ds2s name on here and my grandsons ,got ripped to shreads .. but not fussed as we like em and everyones names are diffrent [sticks tounge out ]

evamummy · 02/01/2011 19:47

I wonder how representative mumsnet is of the whole UK/Worldwide population?

NewYearNewPants · 02/01/2011 16:49

Anna is good.

Emma is 1970s-tastic. There were five in my year at school. No way!

James is dull.

GabbyLoggon · 02/01/2011 16:11

Trillian some truth in what you say. we dont spend much time agreeing on mumsnet. But I did get everyone to agree about Polar Bears on TVthey loved it. NAMES? I like Alex, tristran, John , Jean, and Brenda Half of my siblings did not like their christian names. Ilike mine

AnnOnimous · 02/01/2011 16:01

Anna can be spoiled, by adding Claire as a middle name, making it An Eclair!

ivykaty44 · 02/01/2011 13:53

Miriam is really not to my liking, will not abuse the name.

Anna good as is emma

swanandduck · 02/01/2011 13:47

There's a Miriam thread at the moment and not everyone likes it.

I agree Juliet seems to be very popular. I remember a thread where everyone was raving about Polly.

tammytoby · 02/01/2011 11:29

Why are we so keen to find names that are 'approved' by random mumsnetters...Confused?

Are we all so insecure that we need widespread approval (by people whose tastes might be in complete contrast to our own)?

ValiumTinselton · 02/01/2011 11:09

Marianne, Juliet, Alice, they are quite mumsnetty! I like two out of that three.

Although of course not everybody likes them. I really like Miriam but as pp says, some people dislike it.

HappyHogmanay · 02/01/2011 11:02

there is a Miriam thread right now - not everyone likes it.
I like Marianne, it was almost used by us for DD but we couldn't find a middle name that went with it and in the end decided that people would confuse it for Marion which we both disliked.
Atticus - no way!

sophiesmummie · 02/01/2011 10:42

"People seem to be quite into Marianne"

Really? I personally really dislike it.

freerangeeggs · 02/01/2011 03:00

People seem to be quite into Marianne but I haven't seen a specific thread on it.

ChippingIn · 02/01/2011 02:59

Miriam?? I don't think so MA.

BarbieLovesKen - Well that's because Oisin is an amazing name! Wink

I think I can remember Atticus being really popular, though most people said they'd never use it. I did though so I guess that makes me some sort of renegade.

QueeferSantaland · 01/01/2011 23:57

Sophie?

BarbieLovesKen · 01/01/2011 23:54

Actually when I was pregnant with DS, I came on here to ask about the name Oisín and didnt get one bad comment Shock
