to think eyebrows don’t NEED to be done

Mine were seriously over waxed in the 90/00's, so I had them microbladed a few years ago (specialised pigment, so no red/grey/blue fade!).
I think brows can make a difference. Too thin can be ageing, so i'd essentially agree that a tidy is all thats required.
I really don't like the exaggerated square/dark look, or fluffy brows. To each their own though!

I guess that people who are in the beauty business have a more critical eye than the average person. If you spend all day making people's faces perfect then you're more likely to notice things like that.
Similar to how personal trainers might notice how toned someone is because it is their business to make people toned.
It doesn't necessarily mean there's anything wrong with your eyebrows just not beauty technician perfect

I am old, out of touch and probably will be the most hated poster on this thread but it seems pretty clear that as nearly all people have eyebrows no intervention is needed. Also all microblading and filling in of them just makes them look false and odd.
I just leave my eyebrows alone, they are dark and wholly unremarkable.
It seems so sad that women are born with both eye lashes and eye brows that are perfectly lovely and that from somewhere there is a message that these too need to be augmented / changed in some way. Like our breasts, hair, weight and on and on.
Quite frankly f* that.

I dunno, I think the way OP has worded it, it sounds a bit like the technician looked at her face and implied they looked a bit of a mess and needed doing.

The phrase "sort out your eyebrows" seems to say there's something wrong with them that needs fixing...

I think I'd be a bit offended if someone doing my nails asked my if I wanted to 'sort out' my eyebrows.

This is what’s confusing me too.

The woman didn’t tell the OP she needed them done.

She just asked if she wanted to use the service.

Some subtle tinting and shaping can be an improvement but the thick dark look is comical, in my opinion. And I know that's my opinion, but people sometimes have no self-awareness of how insane they sometimes make themselves look. I rely on my friends/family to tell me when I've got it wrong, which I think is as it should be.

But nails don't NEED to be done either so what on earth are you getting at?

She’s trying to sell her services, of course she will try and persuade you to have them done. That doesn’t make it some sort of societal expectation. If you don’t say no. it’s easy and as simple as that’.

You still don't need to do anything to them though.

There is a difference between need and want. No one needs it, many want it,

People can do what they want with their eyebrows of course. Personally I think we’ll look back on this era and think we over did our eyebrows. It should compliment your face not be the eye grabbing feature, but just my opinion.

I am the blondest human ever and to see any hair on my face you would need a microscope.

My elder sister plucked mine for me when I was 14, into the fashion (thin arched line) at the time (early 1970's).

They never ever grew back. Never plucked a single hair again.

Don't know if that's a blessing or a curse.

Well no, they don’t NEED to be done in the same way your nails don’t NEED to be done - but lots of us do it anyway because it makes us feel better.

She was still upselling - it's her job. Just like it used to be my job to get people to buy belts with their jeans, or socks with their shoes.

People who work in that industry have an eye for unkempt brows, tache, nails etc because thats where their training is and it will stand out to them. The lady probably didnt mean to point out your brows were in need, she was just trying to assist in all things beauty.

You're right. Nails don't need to be done either over & above trimming & keeping clean. Anything else is purely decorative.

My eyebrows are naturally blonde so I get them tinted and shaped. They fell out when I had chemo and my face looked odd so I got them microbladed, i.e. tattooed on.

I wear my nails bare so horses for courses I guess.

As a PP said, none of it 'needs' to be done. Nails don't 'need' doing, either, beyond trimming for safety and hygiene. I'm a minimalist in terms of brows and nails. Saves me a lot of time and money, and no-one whose opinion I care about is bothered one way or the other. But we all have our 'things', and I spend more time and money on certain parts of my life than others do. I don't care if someone else wants to have their brows done professionally; I just don't want to be shamed (individually or as a group) for not caring about or seeing the value in it for myself.
