Mine do.

Mine do look neater with some maintenance. Probably didn't bother before my mid-30s or later. I blame genetics for their tendency to be bushy more than any previous treatment (as there was none.)

Never done a thing to my eyebrows. Never plucked once. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m 45 years old and I think this is why they look fine. Because I didn’t start messing with them at 15.

Surely that would be brutally painful?

People have explained she was simply upselling. Probably told to do it. It may be that they've noticed a trend whereby ppl who come in for their nails often decide to get their eyebrows 'sorted' whilst there or if it's offered to them.

It doesn't mean she's been captured by the patriarchy.

Asking someone if they want to sort their eyebrows out too is implying they look like they have catapillars crawling across their face.

So it may be upsetting but it is also really rude!

The OP could have ended up with McDonalds golden arches eyebrows!!

I’m very low maintenance.
Hair cut with colour every 8 weeks and brows tidied a little because they look unruly and would join in the middle.
Nothing else

I had my nails done for the first time ever the other day for a party. They look lovely but it was surprisingly expensive.

As pp have said, nothing 'needs' to be done.

Although I'd argue that nose hair 'needs' to be plucked in both men and women - but even then, it's not really a need, just a strong aesthetic preference.

The girl was suggesting there was something wrong with my eyebrows. That is the problem.
I agree with others, she was just up selling.
There's only one of two answers you could have given. One could be 'go on then' and the other is ' no thanks, I'll leave it'. And then get on with your day.

What a silly thread, of course no one needs anything done. You didn't need to get your nails done. Do you believe that you are the victim of some movement forcing women to get their nails done? Or maybe you just felt like having your nails done.

This kind of reminds me of our local dentist. We all (friends and neighbours) dread going to him because all he does is try to upsell us on teeth whitening, which he claims is just a normal part of personal care now. I’d go elsewhere but it’s impractical. By the time everything’s been waxed, bleached, whitened, darkened, tweezed, cut, polished, and buffed I can’t begin to imagine what the ‘normal’ woman is spending on all this stuff now. It’s as if the perfect woman is on fantastic wages and simultaneously never at work because she’s at a beauty appointment.

Only you know how accurate that is.

I'm approaching 50 and was victim to the 90's obsession with plucked eyebrows, to the point I don't have much outer eyebrow left. Last year I had mine microbladed and I am really pleased with them - they have made such a subtle but significant difference to my face. They are very natural looking. However, it is vitally important that you choose your practitioner wisely. The one who did mine is very experienced, has competed and worked internationally, and refuses to do anything that might look "chavvy" for want of a better word.

There is an expectation that brows will be neat, curved a certain way with no straggly hairs. Overall this will make your face look better if you are going for a polished look. This is NO different to having your nails done? You are suggesting people read your posts. Please explain the difference between nails being done and eyebrows? Both can be left. Both make you look traditionally ‘better’ if they are done.

They don’t need to be done. Of course, lots of people do choose to do various things to their eyebrows and that’s completely up to them isn’t it. I actually think beauticians should be a little bit more sensitive about this kind of subject. Obviously they just want another sale, but by saying do you want me to do XYZ? There’s a slight implication that they think you need those areas sorting out which obviously can make people feel uncomfortable. I think people are adults and if they wanted their eyebrows done along with their nails, then they would’ve booked that in. Just my opinion!

Unless you’re a bloody Ewok or something that’s a really bizarre offer.
