to think eyebrows don’t NEED to be done

AIBU to think eyebrows don’t need to be ‘done’ beyond some plucking of the monobrow area or some general tidying if you have a lot of hairs?
I recently went to get my nails done for an event and the lady asked if I wanted to sort my eyebrows out too??

surely this is a recent phenomenon of perfect dark eyebrows forced upon women?

I am another who skips the nail, but gets my eyebrows shaped and tinted - plus I also now get the top lip waxing. Have not graduated to chin yet, but I am old, it will come.

Op, it’s a service. You were offered it, you declined.

If you are offended by the offer, then go to another nail tech when you next want your nails done.

Maybe post a photo of the eyebrows so we can judge?

I LOVE getting my eyebrows done - waxed and tinted. Frames my whole face and makes me feel so complete without makeup or any additional effort

The girl was suggesting there was something wrong with my eyebrows. That is the problem.

Are you being purposely obtuse? Or are you feeling so insulted about it that you’re just not thinking clearly?

Your tone implies annoyance because you were asked if you wanted her to sort your eyebrows out. You said eyebrows didn’t ’need’ to be done. The point being made is that very few things ‘need’ to be done, including fingernails, but that lots of women have them done because they want them, and it’s a bit hypocritical to be contemptuous of women having eyebrows done if you’re having your nails done.

I wish mine didn't need to be done. Unfortunately, I have thick, long eyebrow hair. I find it easier to go to a professional, once every 2 months, to get them back under control. Otherwise they are literally disappearing into my hairline.

Are you upset because you feel that identical brows are being foisted on womankind?

Or because she thought yours were in a bit of a state and it hurt your feelings because you felt they looked ok, and didn’t like that she criticised them?

Oooh, yes, I should've said 'groomed' not plucked, as using a nose trimmer works 😅 And only when it sticks out in bushy tufts 🤢 I have an older family member where it's literally almost brushing his upper lip, and I don't know why he doesn't trim it.

You don’t need to get your nails done anymore than brows. All personal preference - I opt for neither.

Of course they don't need to be done. No beauty treatment needs to be done. They are all personal choice. Is that not obvious?

I’m trim and pluck mine as they are quite bushy 😂they are naturally dark and thick and I’ve enjoyed the last 10 years of thicker eye brows after spending hrs plucking them in my youth. They naturally have a nice shape too.

Never done a thing to my eyebrows. Never plucked once. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m 45 years old and I think this is why they look fine. Because I didn’t start messing with them at 15.

Mine do look neater with some maintenance. Probably didn't bother before my mid-30s or later. I blame genetics for their tendency to be bushy more than any previous treatment (as there was none.)

As pp have said, nothing 'needs' to be done.

Although I'd argue that nose hair 'needs' to be plucked in both men and women - but even then, it's not really a need, just a strong aesthetic preference.

Surely that would be brutally painful?

Have YOU read the thread?

People have explained she was simply upselling. Probably told to do it. It may be that they've noticed a trend whereby ppl who come in for their nails often decide to get their eyebrows 'sorted' whilst there or if it's offered to them.

It doesn't mean she's been captured by the patriarchy.
