AIBU to find YABU and YANBU poll hijacking on threads annoying

Maybe hijacking isnt the best word, but these supposed "poll results" are honestly delusional when people think they're somehow backing up their original statement by directing the narrative to begin with

In other words, AIBU to think it's annoying how people effectively hijack these threads by initially suggesting their own YABU/YANBA opinions?

Yes, you definitely understood the original post. It's annoying that people provide this initial definition, and then you don't know if you're agreeing with them or not. Pretty much goes against the whole concept of AIBU

No, it is the opposite. If they don't provide the initial definition, that's when you don't know if you agree with them or not since you don't know which way is which.

This is such a non-issue that you really shouldn't be "stressed" about it or need "brain capacity" to post about it. I presume you have a lot going on, it might be an idea to take a break from forums and do something nice/ relaxing for your mental health.

Obviously not. When did I suggest scrolling through AIBU is stressful?

I was saying that it's stressful when there's a simple x/y poll and the OP makes it more complicated by adding other options

On some threads it's impossible to know which way to vote because the OP doesn't make it clear what they are asking posters to vote on.
The example you show is actually helpful because there is no dubeity about the opinion the options represent

I appreciate you saying it's helpful, but my point is that the OP shouldn't be providing options in the first place. It's an AIBU VS AINBU thread. There shouldn't be other options

I completely disagree with you (if I'm correct on your comments). The problem is when people DON'T explain what they mean by YABU versus YANBU. When there isn't clarification, people may not be using the options the same way and the results are useless.

They're not highjacking the thread, you don't seem to agree with the poll results.

You know voting is not mandatory? You can read and even comment without even looking at the poll

This has nothing to do with the poll results themselves. Just a paradox regarding the simple idea of voting in the poll, but then having the complication of people suggesting their own narrative

And I wouldn't have mentioned it until that person in that screenshot thought it was somehow backing up their statement

I know I'm rambling, but there's a point in their somewhere

After reading your thread for the 3rd time I think I’m getting my head around what you’re trying to say. And I disagree. I find a lot of the polls go the complete opposite of the ops intention. And the example you’ve used is a poor one as the op has stated her opinion, yet the polls divided, which she’s pointed out. Unless this is even more complicated than I first thought and I’ve got your thread completely wrong

I never bother with the polls. If I've got an opinion on a thread I comment. It's rarely as straightforward as a binary YABU or YANBU anyway.

Just to clarify. I know it's only mumsnet, but it can just be a little stressful when AIBU used to be so simple and then people are putting things in their description that make it complicated
