I think context is important here. For example, if you’ve been told you need open heart surgery within the next few days or will probably die or you’ve been told you will probably need a joint replacement within the next 5 years are 2 quite different scenarios and my level of hurt in relation to being ignored after announcing them wound differ greatly. I doubt I’d mention either of them to an ex though unless there is some shared responsibility eg on a mortgage together and you’re expecting to not be able to work.

fumingrightnow1 · Yesterday 12:27

Have you been trying to contact him before, he probably thinks you're lying to get his attention

Sassylovesbooks · Yesterday 12:36

Unless you have children together or have other shared responsibilities, like a mortgage/tenancy, then you needing an operation, is nothing to do with him.

I'm not sure what you expected? Your ex isn't part of your life any more and therefore isn't going to be there to offer you support.

He's ignored your message, so you need to accept that he's not interested in your life any longer. He clearly doesn't want contact with you, which is his choice. Yes, it's sad, and it's upsetting, considering it's only been 7 weeks since you split up, but you can't force him to engage with you.

I think he cheated on the OP. So that's not really love.

Ah ok - obviously I was commenting without context. Unfortunately no one can force somebody to care; if they didn't before, they certainly won't now.

PatNoodle · Yesterday 12:41

You’ve posted over 20 threads about him since the end of July

ACynicalDad · Yesterday 12:44

He must stay strong and not be manipulated, only exception is if you share kids etc

PollyBell · Yesterday 12:44

Why on earth does he need to know this? As far as I can tell from the 20 or so threads you don't have children together

ToKittyornottoKitty · Yesterday 12:46

I felt bad for you at first, but every weekend you are still banging on about this guy on a new thread. Leave the guy alone and seek help, this isn’t normal OP.

He doesn’t need to no or care about your surgery. Lean on family and friends and put him behind you.

Dandeloosha · Yesterday 12:58

Why would your ex care?

Hope your surgery goes well.

harriethoyle · Yesterday 13:02

Guys, do an AS on @TheOpalFox then you won’t waste your time thinking there’s any point pointing 🤷‍♀️

Bubbaliciousss · Yesterday 13:24

I wouldn't bother posting on AIBU, it's mainly a bunch of unhappy women trying to make comments that they don't even agree with themselves in order to make others as unhappy aa them.

Anywherebuthere · Yesterday 13:30

He's your ex for a reason. Unless you have kids together that you are co-parenting, he doesn't owe you a response.

LAMPS1 · Yesterday 13:31

After everything that has happened, what reaction were you expecting from him OP?
Busy yourself by making your plans for surgery and recovery, without him featuring in it any of it at all.
He isn’t going to be involved. It’s over.

He is afraid to give you the courtesy of a reply as you will cling on to the past even more, rather than looking forward to a future without him.

This is your chance now to get over him, as well as to get well.
Take it OP, and don’t look back
Good luck.

I thought he had blocked you?

I'm not surprised he's an ex

How horrible.

outerspacepotato · Yesterday 13:45

Unless you have kids together or a mortgage, he's out of your life.

Do you have family or friends that can help with your post op period?

I thought he had blocked you?

I literally came to say the same thing. He did block her and then he blocked her (not their) son so I assume she was trying to contact him via the son. OP has obviously found another way again to contact him about her hysterectomy which is a bit stalkerish

OP you say you have nobody else yet you're being maid of honour for your best friend so clearly do have at least one friend you're close to who could possibly help out

Crispautumnday · Yesterday 13:47

Do you have kids together? If not YABU

Lean on your friends and family

I guess this wasn’t on AIBU?
What certainly WAS, is OP stating repeatedly that she has absolutely, literally, nobody on Earth now He has departed. Not a solitary sinner to support her or commiserate etc. (Poor son and ageing Pa who supposedly live in the same house never get a look in)

Purplecatshopaholic · Yesterday 14:42

I’m sorry you’re hurting op. I assume you have kids together, or else why tell him at all? If you do, then yes you need to discuss the practicalities. If you don’t, then it’s understandable why he’s not responded and you need to find support from friends and family.

JLou08 · Yesterday 14:59

As harsh as it is he probably did the right thing. You're still heartbroken, he still doesn't want to be with you. Him supporting you through things would muddy the waters. Sometimes a clean break is best all round.

Swiftie1878 · Yesterday 15:26

It’s you again.

You need to MOVE ON.
He is not interested. If your incessant posts on here about your break-up are anything to go by, he is right to have blocked you. You’re unhealthily obsessed!!

Uricon2 · Yesterday 15:38

You need to find a way to get past this @TheOpalFox . He is not the right person to help you and he's made his position very clear. You should concentrate on your surgery, recovery and putting plans in place to support you, your dad and your son (who have their own needs) through that period.

DaisyChain505 · Yesterday 20:04

@TheOpalFox

I’ve just read your other threads. This behaviour from you isn’t normal. Yes it’s absolutely the norm to feel heartbroken by a break up but this is consuming you and you keep saying you’ve got no one and nothing else in your life.

You had a life before this man, you weren’t just sat in a dark cardboard box waiting to be picked up by him like some abandoned doll so you need to remember that you can also have a life after him.

Why do you not have any friends in your life? Did you cut them off or drop them when you got into a relationship?

Do you work?

You desperately need to work on your self esteem and stop asking why you weren’t good enough. He was a cheating dirt bag, it’s got nothing to do with your worth.

Love yourself more than you love him, get yourself some therapy if you can afford it or go to your GP and talk to them about what help you can get.
