Kid next door most evenings of late (and all summer during the world cup) kicking a football in their back garden. It's either against the back of the house which is connected to ours with only a fence between us, or being slammed off the decking. It's the most god awful thumping that resonates through our whole downstairs area - living space and kitchen - and it means sitting outside to enjoy the evening is impossible, as is leaving open the patio door. It goes on for an hour or two. I've already asked once for the kicking to stop before 8am when I'm putting my son down, but now I want to ask it to stop completely. AIBU to ask this or do I need to just deal with it.

It was quite funny though! Made me laugh!

I live alone, no kids. Next door have three under 8s. They also have the biggest fkn trampoline I have ever seen. Those kids not only jump for hours but they invite their little friends to join in also. The squeals and screams and competitiveness to see who can jump the highest is mad.

I love hearing them, it brings a bit of life to this cul de sac of old codgers and makes me happy. All girls so no footballs YET!

As pp said, they will be grown up very soon and all will be quiet again.

That's a very different kind of noise to ball noise. Hours of thud, thud, thud can go on for years, every day. No reasonable parent would inflict that on their neighbour for that length of time.

There's a block of flats over the road. The ground floor has a windowless wall with a recess about the size and shape of a goal and there's a large patch of grass in front of it. Surrounding topography is like nirvana for echo's. During the World Cup, Euros etc I can guarantee every neighbourhood MAN seems to think it's time to release their inner Rooney. Smashing it off the wall, twatting the first floor double glazing and shouting. Oh how I despise football and that sound.

Thud, thud, thud.

The thing is, I know just how many people use that grass as a dog toilet and that they're basically diving about in dog shit without knowing it.
