AIBU to worry that war is coming for the UK?

I've been thinking and worrying about this article since I saw it last weekend, waiting to see if anyone raises it on MN: AIBU to worry about what felt like a forgone conclusion that war is coming to the UK?

It does worry me yes. Especially as my teen son is desperate to join the military.

I've heard lots of chat about how it will/would be different this time with less hand to hand combat and more hacking etc. - I guess no one really knows though.

I wonder if we stopped supporting Ukraine, we’d be left alone. Maybe that’s the aim of all their posturing and the threat is bravado.

A) a lot of this seems to be coming out of the bbc...strangely they are stoking up the threats
B).Russia have to come through a lot of countries to get he
C) Even Putin realises that invading Europe would not be the best more, given he's bogged down in a country which pre war wasn't the best equipped.
D) Even Trump couldn't stand aside, the pressure to act in the case of an attack on a nato alli such as the uk, Germany or France would be massive in.the us...standing back makes him look weak

I saw that article and knew it would scare people.

I’m with @Dillydollydingdong above in that it’s not something we can control. Everywhere we look someone seems to be trying to scare the living shit out of us. Might be true might not but I refuse to live in fear. Instead I’m trying to make my little corner of the world as nice as possible - plant flowers, smile at folk, pick up litter, pet small and not so small dogs, pause to talk to sunbathing cats.

We hear weekly how the Russians are not doing well in the war and the Ukraine is holding out against them. At the same time we are told the Russians are reafy and able to storm Europe and invade the Uk.
Seems to me both can't be true.

But what is the threat? In 1940 the danger of a German invasion of the UK was very real.

Stopped reading there. If you want your article on conflict to be taken seriously, it's best not to start off with complete and utter nonsense like this.

The invasion has already begun. Millions of reprehensible fools have been successfully turned against multiculturalism by Russian cyber-agents and are now likely to vote for parties that seek to divide our once great nation.

This is a new era of warfare and we have been found wanting. I don't know what we can do to turn it around, I don't think even the Greens have what it takes to undo the rightward shift that has been going through the working class communities of England. Dark times indeed.

I think the government wants us to think that, I’m not sure why but the nudge initiatives are ramping up. Not you OP but the BBC, the prepping advice, the Wargame, the new Apocalypse show. Something’s afoot.

We’re already at war, more or less. Just not a conventional guns and tanks and soldiers one.

We’d be screwed if we ever got attacked. We can’t rely on the US, we’ve fucked off the EU, our armed forces are underfunded and depleted. Large swathes of the population can barely cope with daily life or the most minor of challenges, let only band together to form a resistance. The only thing we have is the nuclear deterrent, which we won’t use, for obvious reasons, and we’re members of NATO, which might stand for something.

It was the way it was worded as if the journalist knew something that we don't (and to be fair, journalists DO have access to information ahead of the public, right?)
