AIBU to expect a refund after wee flavoured hotel bed?

AIBU (fully open to being told I am!) to expect my money back, under Premier Inn's 'Good night guarantee'? I'd been on the bed a while before I noticed an unmistakeable smell - the previous guest had wet it! My warmth and the pressure of me lying on it had released the odour, which when I got up and pulled back the bedsheets was overpowering! No significant dampness to be fair, but my pajamas were contaminated. I immediately told reception and they were great, very apologetic, and moved me to another room. But I had to have a thorough shower (at 11pm) which woke me up, and I felt 'icky' all night even in the fresh bed, so didn't sleep well. I asked for my money back and they refused, saying the issue was resolved by moving me to another room. I can see where they're coming from, but on the other hand I DIDN'T have a good night, because of an oversight on their part!! I'm disappointed in PI. I thought their customer service was better than that. I'm a fairly regular guest but I'll be thinking twice before booking with them in future! What do you think?

For gawds sake why are you all arguing about the way OP titled her post the truth of the matter is PI expected her to lie in someone else’s piss !! She is more than entitled to a refund for that alone

Yes you're right: body odour by way of example. Only mildly negative though unlike stench or stink.

I think that the use of the word 'flavoured' is incorrect here: it should be scented.
Or stench would be better as it would be unpleasant.

People usually stay in PI's as they've got something unusual the next day which makes it harder to sleep anyway.
This is why they're keen to paint it as a cocoon like environment.

I think you've got grounds to say this interrupted your sleep schedule.

I'm skanky (😁) so shower once in the morning only and showering again at night would really wake me up and of course the unpleasantness of sleeping in another person's piss coupled with their lack of attention would get my blood pressure up making sleep elusive.

Push on with a refund. Yanbu.

For urine, no (although it's infinitely more appropriate than the word 'flavoured'). For the examples she gave in the comment I was actually replying to, yes.

Am I weird for saying 'flavoured'? I mean a person can have coffee flavoured breath right, or a candle can be sandalwood flavoured? It's a way to describe scent as well as taste!

why don’t you tell someone about this in RL and use the word “flavoured” and see their reaction likely a very quizzical expression on their face!

I started a thread a couple of weeks ago when I last stayed in one because I realised in the nick of time that they'd changed their veggie sausages to Quorn, which a lot of people are intolerant to, and I thought I'd give others the heads up - not that strange! The guy on reception was fab. Got me set up in the lounge with the TV on and a glass of ice water and let me hang out til 2am while I pulled myself together and figured out a plan. He was lovely. I must remember to email them with an accolade.

I travel a lot for work and they're my 'go to' chain as I find them fairly consistently good. They seem to be slipping now though! Not the same value for money that they were.

Sorry to hear this, I had a similar issue with Premier Inn this year with bedbugs in a hotel room.

The staff were great but the customer relations team accepted no responsibility and kept refusing refund requests.

In the end I sent about 5 emails each time politely saying I was dissatisfied with the response and would like to escalate. Eventually I got two rooms refunded for two nights but it must have taken 2-3 weeks of emailing.

None of us slept properly either night as we were flinching at every little thing after seeing massive bedbugs parading across the bed in the initial room I was in. Our trip was also ruined as we had to bin pyjamas and clothes, and spend our free day going shopping for bug sprays and a steamer to steam everything before taking home suitcases with potential bugs in them!

Send an email (or five!) to their guest relations team and they will refund you eventually.

Oh My God!! 😲 Never come across them before but live in fear! So lucky you realised before taking them home with you! How absolutely horrible though!

Honestly, you'd think that customer satisfaction would be worth something to them. It's not like an independent hotel you'd only go to for a one off holiday. Most people who stay in one Premier Inn once, are likely to go on to stay in multiple others i'd have thought. Not a good idea to put you off the whole chain!

Candles etc aren’t flavoured. You wouldn’t say vanilla flavoured shower gel (I assume) flavour only refers to something you taste with your mouth (unless you’re trying to be funny)
