Been dating a single dad for around a month. I’m late twenties (single mother), he’s 40 and a single dad to a teen dc.

Dates have seemed to go great until last night. He started going on about his salary and then whinging about his CMS (£300).

XH was on a slightly lower salary and we used to have same contact arrangement (EOW), so I know according to the cms calculator, he should be paying more.

He then started whinging about XW wanting more and that she claimed it was to go towards bills too where as he believes it should only be spent on the child. I pointed out that his XW has their child the majority of the time so her bills would be more and that teenagers are expensive.

His argument was that if he spends £300 on their child, she should too.🙃I pointed out that I could imagine she was spending much more than £300 per month. If he really didn’t want to pay his cms then 50/50 may be an option.

He went in the huff and the date ended abruptly. I don’t plan on seeing him again but wibu to call him out?

For context I don’t receive any cms as have an amicable 50/50 arrangement with XH.

DH nearly got into a bit of a tricky argument with a bumch of his old friends a few years ago. They're all friends from school and have a longstanding group chat (almost never see each other). One was getting divorced. Cue lots of ranting from him about how his STBexW was "taking him to the cleaners" and how he'd "Worked hard for the money to pay for the house" that she wanted etc etc etc.

They were all supportive, recommending good lawyers etc. DH threw a bomb into the mix when he pointed out that the friend's wife had given up a good career to move cities for his job when he got a promotion, and had then given up work completely to move COUNTRIES , again for his job, and that as a result, she wasn't exactly in a position to buy a house anywhere near like the one they'd lived in as a couple etc etc and that he didn't see why she wasn't entitled to at least half of any assets that existed by that point in the marriage.

It took a while for that one to calm down and, to be fair, I think some of the other men did actually stop to think as up until that point, it had never occurred to any of them. I was very proud of him. He said it was quite hard because he really did feel like the outlier but there was so much vitriol for how this woman hadn't worked and didn't "deserve" anything. I think it was "easier" for him to see becuase he was a SAHD at the time.

Well done to your DH. Honestly more men need to stand up to each other like that.
