Most dog owners do not consider others.

Having added a dog to our family, I have a new disdain for a subset of dog owners. My area isn’t densely populated. I’m getting to know the other dog people pretty quickly as we all go on walks. It’s always the same people engaging in antisocial behavior. Most people really are trying to be good owners, but there are a few that are just obnoxious.

I agree, not all but a lot of dog owners don’t care about anyone else.
We have a neighbour that lets their yappy dog out as early as 4:30am and lets it bark for ages. They are at the back of our house so don’t know which house it is.
Another one lets their dog bark late at night for some reason. Another neighbour goes out and leaves their dog howling, all day long, every week day. It drives everyone mad.
My mil thinks everyone should give as much of a shit about her dog as she does, lets him get away with bad behaviour and expects others to tolerate it because SHE thinks the dog’s cute!

Maybe when dog owners stop being a problem, you won’t have to burdened by reading them and having your heart broken by people who see this issue as the objectively anti-social problem it is, and not emotionally and defensive because it might reflect on you and your animal.

I disagree with your statement about most dog owners being inconsiderate. Most are brilliant - so much so them and their dogs exists without really being noticed. A small majority are totally inconsiderate, and totally destroy the reputation of the majority.

I'm a dog walker and spend my days actively avoiding dogs and owners. It's a rarity that other owners can manage to recall their own dog and either put it on a lead (or miraculously ask and get a good heel ) to pass my on lead dog.
I usually get charged / hear a failed recall attempt / or the dreaded 'mines friendly!'

Last week I wrecked my back as some arsehole let their lab stalk towards my reactive EBT. I called out mine wasn't friendly - they had headphones in. Tucked mine to the side and this moron still didn't react. I ended up just picking my dog up and got a very snotty 'my dog wants to say hello'

Some parks and areas are just no go zones during peak hours as it's carnage.

Having two dogs near me which bark a lot, I think dog owners must get the same selective deafness that parents do. It drives me demented several houses away so I cannot understand how they tolerate it right in front of them, for so long and so loud all the bloody time - a sparrow takes a breath and off they go, let alone if the doorbell rings....

No. Most people are inconsiderate twats.
Some of them own dogs, cars, children, bicycles and this becomes an extension of their lack of consideration. Some of them walk, run, use shopping trolleys inconsiderately.
The dog is irrelevant. They are dicks with or without the animal.

My dogs are not and have never been a problem and neither are the owners I coach daily advised to do anything other than teach polite respectful behaviour in their dogs. Endless threads itemising a few prats with their ill mannered dogs though? Proves nothing and is just tedious clickbait.

YABU for DO11. A lot of elderly dogs with mobility problems or even young dogs recovering from injuries still get enrichment from being outside and doing their usual routine.

Perhaps run somewhere else.

My dog is 12. He snapped both cruciate ligaments when he was a pup. Recovered well but vet said "it isn't if he will get arthritis when he is old, it is when" - he is now slowing down. Sometimes he wants to walk and sometimes he doesn't. He eats, enjoys his life but he is getting old, maybe in pain and cannot walk far. I am about to get him a pram. It is the equivalent of old/disabled people going out in a wheelchair. What would you want to do with them? Make them stay at home? Euthanise them because they can't walk?

Most dog walkers/ owners don’t seem to be in control of their dog, whether the dog is in the lead or not. And they also seem to prioritise their dog over human beings. Crazy! I’ve been to a family get together where there was a shortage of seats, but dogs taking up chairs and the owners just carry on talking and don’t move their dog to allow a human gusss to sit down, needless to say I just push the dog off the chair and sat down. It’s a dog not a child.

My foster dog has severe arthritis and scoliosis. She still enjoys going for walks, but can't manage as long as my own, younger dogs, so she goes in a pushchair for a rest. I think she's happy with the arrangement. I don't see why it should bother anyone else.

That's unacceptable, but unless you only have 3 neighbours there's likely to be a lot more houses that have dogs that you don't hear. I have 5 immediate neighbours with dogs, for 4 of them you don't know the dogs are there, the other 1 you hear barking sometimes during the day but they are told to shut it by their owner.

What a wee cutie. I would've gotten a trolley to enable my oldie to fully enjoy longer walks as he got older but he was a bit too large to push. I'm glad she's still enjoying life and exploring.

I am not a dog owner at the moment because our elderly Lab's kidneys failed so I decided to PTS then, while I was with the vet who had done the blood tests. She would have had days left, and much more pain so it was the right decision.

And four weeks later, we are still bereft. It has been 35 years since we were last without a dog or a child to fuss about. Heavens above, we miss the routine, but we also want to relocate, and we shan't have another dog until we do because we'll probably have another Lab via breed rescue and we'll all learn new routes and routines together. I yearn for another pup, but at 70, I shall probably opt for an adoption. An 18-month old Lab dog has immense strength and stamina, and while we are still pretty fit and active, seven to ten miles daily cross country, unless we opt into a shoot circuit, is unlikely.

Extendi leads are the majority of the time but not always used by people who can't train their dog, very rarely have I seen them safely used.

Some of us love our dogs more than people but take the time to train them so that others don't need to be bothered by their presence.

Apart from the pushchair that dog could be old, recovering from surgery but need more stimulation, Any reason really as long as they don't take it in food shops it's their dog and their pushchair leave them to it

We often get charged but off lead dogs without a recall, we live at a popular holiday destination, my male has been attacked a couple of times by dogs whose owners scream he's friendly thankfully he's too sweet natured to react but the owners never seem to care.
