I don't think it's specific to dog owners, I think people have just become much more self absorbed the past few years!
I walk past a local primary school in the morning and the amount of times I end up walking in the road because parents are blocking the entire pavement standing chatting with prams etc and no attempt to give any space to anyone else. Had someone tut at me last week for saying "excuse me" 🙄

What’s wrong with a dog in a stroller? They’re not causing any problems and some dogs struggle to walk a lot for various reasons.

It’s 3 particular houses that back onto ours, 3 out of the 3 houses have dogs and happen to be shit owners. We’re probably just unlucky.
I personally know of friends and family that bought dogs during covid and they are the worst behaved dogs and none have been trained correctly, the dogs just rule the roost.
It’s quite shocking how relaxed people have become in training their dogs properly.

Exactly. There are a lot of rude and entitled people around, and sadly some of them have dogs. It's just like saying all parents are selfish-some are, some aren't. More dog owners than parents tend to be considerate, and at least you're not paying for the bills of the dogs that aren't looked after, but you are paying for health/food/social etc for people who have kids but don't bother looking after them.
There's more litter on the non dog section of the beach (and needles, used condoms etc) than on the dog section.

Our main trails circuit 25km, originally for dog walkers, is now dominated by mountain bikes who think it's built for them. I do get quite stroppy. They have an obligation to ride with care and respect for all the trail users, which include motobility scooters, horses and riders, joggers, runners and dog walkers, but they are all less important than cyclists. I hate most cyclists.

Mostly YANBU and there is so much indignation from people if you express a dislike dogs. The dog in a pram was probably elderly or unwell though. I hate those retractable leads, there have been so many accidents or near misses with bikes and people near me.

Cruddy day in the hsopital with my unwell mum yesterday. So many appointments and tests and we seem to be getting nowhere while she gets worse. I was feeling really low and just wanted to cry but didnt want to in front of mum; I want to be strong for her.

Next thing who walks in but a man and a hospital therapy dog! I've never been so happy to stroke a soppy lab and look into those soulful eyes. Exactly what I needed, just when I needed it. Thanks, Clover 🐾

Silly statement, as you don’t know ‘most’ dog owners, only a snapshot of some you’ve seen on your run. On the other hand, don’t get me started on the keep fit brigade of cyclists and runners. They’re such a self entitled bunch, and seem to think they have more rights than pedestrians. They often have a superiority complex and look down on everyone else. I’ve nearly been knocked over on a few occasions by runners. Just balancing up the debate here…..

@OonaStubbs , if you don't like dogs and consider their existence an affront, then please live in a place where dog ownership is forbidden. In the UK, we rather like dogs, enjoy the company of well trained animals, we use them for sport and for exercise. My beautifully trained, well mannered Lab would have ignored you completely unless you engaged with her. And she would not have bothered your children. In fact, unless you were a squirrel or a rat, or a deer or a cat, and could run fast, she would not even have noted your existence.

Nope. I’m with @Theeternalrocksbeneath since our life and dog experience sounds very similar. The vast majority of dog owners (me included) wouldn’t dream of doing any of the anti social things you observed. Other than #11 which, if you are honest op, is judgemental on your behalf and actually not antisocial at all?
I walk miles and miles with my dogs, in different parts of the country, every single day. Have done for literally decades. I do not witness the things you describe.

I am a dog lover and dog owner and I would say it’s 50/50. Dogs not being on leads, the extendable lead, and not picking up the poop. It’s disgusting.
