Would you eat a pack of pork sausages one day past the use by date? Have been kept in the fridge the whole time. Don’t smell weird. Getting paranoid - would you risk it or not???? Speedy responses appreciated as currently cooking them but wondering whether to bin them and start again with something else
thanks!

HowardTJMoon · 16/09/2026 16:42

As long as they'd been stored properly and didn't smell off then absolutely yes, I'd eat them.

Johnogroats · 16/09/2026 16:42

Yes

MonaChopsis · 16/09/2026 16:43

Have done, didn't die. Crack on.

I’m getting paranoid the little green bits are bloody mould etc (ingredients lists pepper garlic etc as ingredients but not herbs so should there be these little green flecks???)

Be fine enjoy, I've got some for later.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 16/09/2026 16:43

You'll be absolutely fine. And you'd be APPALLED to hear how far past the use by date I eat things...

bananaobama · 16/09/2026 16:43

One day? Of course. Unless they’re growing mould

LobeliaCider · 16/09/2026 16:43

They will be fine as long as you have stored them in the fridge continuously since you bought them and your fridge is fully functioning.

They are not mould. You are talking about something ONE DAY past it's use by date - the sausages don't know what day it is.

titchy · 16/09/2026 16:44

Yes of course. Nothing happens one minute past midnight.

Probably not, just bin them is it worth making your self sick over.

beanstoastie · 16/09/2026 16:48

I once found a chicken casserole ready meal in the freezer. Cooked and ate it then while sorting out box for recycling noticed it was 18 months out of date. I'm still alive, no ill effects at all. And I've also eaten sausages a week past the date!!

AutumnAllTheWay · 16/09/2026 16:48

Yes

Twatterati · 16/09/2026 16:51

If they’d gone off they’d absolutely STINK!!

If you’d not noticed the date you’d be looking at the green bits and thinking “oooh, what lovely herby sausages…”

Really want sausages now 😋

The chances of her being sick due to sausages one day past a very conservative use by date must be close to zero, so is it worth wasting perfectly good food for a risk that is probably non existent. I eat something like that a day out of date most weeks due to buying yellow stickers and eating the next day. Have never been ill.

ilovesooty · 16/09/2026 16:54

I've eaten sausages further after the use by date than that and I didn't die.

bababamama · 16/09/2026 16:55

Fine, just check they are fully cooked

It's probably parsley. A day out of date is nothing these days especially if kept in the fridge. Enjoy.

WillieBanjo · 16/09/2026 16:59

Sausages will have a higher salt content so will have plenty of preservatives in them. The science of sell by dates is not so accurate as to predict within 24 hrs so food does not suddenly turn the minute the date passes. One day to form mould isn’t happening green bits likely seasoning.

enjoy your banger’s 😋

Slobberchops1 · 16/09/2026 17:01

They will be fine , they aren’t Cinderella where they turn after midnight

user293948849167 · 16/09/2026 17:02

I would yes

Ablondiebutagoody · 16/09/2026 17:06

No. At one minute past midnight they went from delicious to deadly.

Hatty65 · 16/09/2026 17:08

I've just looked at the chicken mince I'm having for tea and noticed that the use by date is 13 September. It smells alright and I'm going to cook it.

Pretty sure I'll survive.

Monty36 · 16/09/2026 17:08

No. I wouldn’t.
