Lying about a WhatsApp message

If you sent a WhatsApp message which started off ‘Read this carefully, and to the end but then deleted it 8 hours later.
If the recipient then replied ‘I can’t read it if you’ve deleted it’ AIBU to presume they did actually read it and are lying?

Considering what everyone on here assumed about the message, I would think the recipient is now worried the message was an angry one! You might want to reassure them that it was a nice message.

@MurphysColeslaw if this message was sent to someone you want to start a relationship with, deleting messages is a very immature way to go about it. IME it's a red flag that the sender will be drama seeking and best avoided, friends of both sexes have the same view.

Prior to the editing function, deleting to correct multiple typos was the only valid reason to delete.

What explanation did you give for deleting a long message after less than a typical working day or good night's sleep?
