To think that Harry and his kids should have security

Frankly I don’t want another year of wondering if Harry will attend another event or stay in a palace or will or will not get security etc.

For the sake of our sanity the matter needs to be resolved.

Harry could become a working royal and Meghan could go back to being an actress - they are then both happy

Harry and the kids get protection and Meghan can pay for her own

If Harry and the PoW could make up it would make next year much better ( 30 year anniversary)

Meghan needs to stop trading ( in my opinion) on the memory of Diana ( if it is true she wanted to do a speech re Diana etc) Leave Diana to the boys only.

There are innocent children involved and they do need protecting.

Harry needs to change his attitude and stop fighting the system for the sake of the nations sanity. Meghan has to realise that she upset many of us re the courtesy thing etc and the attack on the POW and POW.

The POW needs to realise that Harry can’t steal his thunder.

Everyone needs to think of King Charles who frankly needs to have a break from all this.

I am not a Meghan supporter or a bot. I just can’t bear another 3 months of frenzied speculation. My head is done in.

And they are by and large anonymous compared to Archie and Lilibet.

Because most people would be able to identify Archie and lillibet in person would they?

Not like their faces are splashed around unless the parents share them. Could be any two random ginger kids to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ I would say I could have walked by them but I’ve not been to the cots for a while.

Much like I tbh I doubt I’d spot little Louie in the wild just a random brown haired child climbing the tree with the scouts.

If they stopped advertising where they lived and posting even side shots of the kids online the risks would be even lower.

It’s why the pikkle cottage lady has moved and says she won’t post the outside of the house anymore.

The Beckhams sold their kids souls and whereabouts constantly.

The Ramsey children now mostly adults I couldn’t say I would clock or know where they lived. Unless I went off to Google it.

Bloody even Oliver’s kids zero clue what they look like work school or live. Because again the parents didn’t share it all.

Peter and Zara’s kids are not the monarch’s grandchildren so it’s not a like for like comparison.

Er, they were the last monarch's grandchildren?

bananaobama · 15/09/2026 15:58

Perhaps he should go to court and let a judge decide

oh wait

If security is that bad in the uk why aren't celebrities, billionaires etc being murdered and kidnapped everyday? Harry wants someone else to pay because it's always been paid for. If it's so dangerous here why come back? Why doesn't he keep a low profile for the sake of his children's safety?

He cannot keep a low profile. He’s Prince Harry. Nor can his children.

Harry is specifically fighting for armed police protection for his children, not any paid for security. He has also offered to cover the cost of armed MET police for the purpose.

It’s not about it happening ‘every day’, it’s about risk. And yes plenty of public figures have been attacked and/or murdered: Jo Cox, Ann Widdecombe, David Amness, Stephen Timms, Jill Dando, Klaudia Zakrzewska, Mark Cavendish, Ashley Cole, Amie Khan, Michelle Keegan, Megan McKenna, Frank Lampard.

Kidnap plots against public figure children: Brooklyn Beckham, Tamara Eccleston.

Is that enough or does only a celebrity a day matter?

Ponderingwindow · 15/09/2026 15:51

They have security. I am skeptical of claims for the need for armed security, but leave that to the experts to determine.

The real issue is that either they or the people they hire are just incapable of doing any planning. They could have dropped the children off early every day before the rush. They could have picked a different school with an easier traffic layout. This shouldn’t be this difficult.

JohnofWessex · 15/09/2026 15:50

Ignoring any other issues

Harry is a potential security risk as he is a member of the Royal Family. This is as a result of his birth and cannot be changed.

It would not change if he was a working royal, vicar, army officer, went to work in the City etc.

So for that reason alone he should get an appropriate level of security either provided or paid for.

The End

sesquipedalian · 15/09/2026 15:47

OP, nobody asked these grifters to return, and they knew the score. I am a monarchist, but I begrudge paying even a farthing towards this entitled pair, who are falling over themselves to stay in the news and do everything in their power to show that they need “protection”. Princess Anne and her children don’t have it, so why should they? I know I’m not alone in wishing they’d just go back to Montecito, so we would never have to hear about them again.

Chickadiddy · 15/09/2026 15:46

The OP sounds absolutely unhinged.

" For the sake of our sanity.."
" My head is done in"
😂😂😂

Bogstandardname · 15/09/2026 15:45

No because they don't help themselves by telling the world what they are doing and when they're doing it.

Didimum · 15/09/2026 15:42

BunfightBetty · 15/09/2026 12:48

They're at no more risk than the kids of other super-wealthy people here, like oligarchs. They don't get armed security from the state, because they are private citizens.

And they are by and large anonymous compared to Archie and Lilibet.

Eviebeans · 15/09/2026 15:41

They wanted to go away and they should have stayed away.
They are completely not getting that in general people in the UK have more to worry about than who wants to pay for them.

Didimum · 15/09/2026 15:41

BunfightBetty · 15/09/2026 12:46

Surely they don't need anything more than Peter or Zara's kids get?

They chose to stop being working Royals, and despite saying they want privacy, have courted attention assiduously, since they left. That's a choice. They can pay for their own security, surely?

You can’t pay for armed security in the UK. I didn’t say Harry and Megan didn’t have a choice – I said their kids don’t have a choice.

Since Archie and Lilibet are 6th and 7th in line in succession (as opposed to Savannah and Isla Phillips, 21st and 22nd), and their parents have a much higher degree of public interest, scrutiny and contention, I would argue that this makes them more in need of security.

bananaobama · 15/09/2026 15:39

They had that enormous public wedding then decided to cut ties with the UK after the event.

we haven’t forgotten you cheeky grifting freeloaders

bananaobama · 15/09/2026 15:35

No. I want them to effoff back to California where they flounced off to and can live a life free from fear

Whyhaveibeencutoutofmamsnot · 15/09/2026 15:31

She is an American "actress" of course she likes publicity.
If he gets protection as an ex squaddie then so should all of our ex service men and women as they may have done unpopular things in Afghanistan.
The children are less at risk than young men living on council estates particular certain groups.
HAM chose to turn their backs on this country and the royal family and say some nasty things.
Then complain about the school run.

Tryingtokeepgoing · 15/09/2026 14:24

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, for as long as they continue to believe that there is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about, then they will continue to deliberately do things that increase the risk to which they are exposing their children. As a non UK resident non UK taxpayer I have no skin in the game, but IMO it'd be reasonable for them to take sensible precautions to stay out of the public eye and reduce the risk (perhaps by not employing a photograper and social media manager that constantly lets everyone know where they are and what they are doing), and having done that for the security services to assess the actual risk at that point, and provide the appropriate level of security. It seem madness to do things that increase risk and then demand 24 hour armed security because of the risk that they, in part, have created.

caringcarer · 15/09/2026 14:22

No they should not get protection. They are not working royals. They are private citizens and they don't get tax payer funded protection. If they were truly worried as bout their DC safety they'd stop posting them all over the internet as it anyone cares abot them and their family. In the US they paid for security. In the uUK if they feel they need it they can do the same. The UK is in billions of debt as Nd it doesn't have money to splash of nonsense. When the late Queen Elizabeth was alive Princess Ann, Prince Edward and their families only got security if they were representing the Queen. The same should apply to Harry. Security has been smashed from all but King Charles and Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales as King and Queen in waiting and their children. Princess Anne who is a working royal and has been kidnapped in the past only gets security when representing the King. She catches trains and buses when not representing the King without security. Zara Phillips and Lady Louise dont have security as they are not working royals and Lady Louise worked in a garden centre serving the public. No one else makes a fuss except H&M. If they don't like it they can go back to the US.

glovebox · 15/09/2026 14:17

The only grounds I can see for protecting them is that they’re too stupid to make sensible decisions around their security arrangements. They need protecting from themselves more than anything.

stop talking about yh or reading about them. It’s what i do, and i couldn’t tell you anything about any of the pointless lot of them. ignorance is bliss.

Crudd99 · 15/09/2026 14:10

Statistics. How many royal children have been killed and how many British public children have been killed?

Yup safest place to be would be near the royals as a threat to them is always looked for.

Unlike us plebs 😅

Crudd99 · 15/09/2026 14:10

Slightyamusedandsilly · 15/09/2026 13:52

REALLY? No. My child is not more at risk from a terrorist than a grandchild of the King.

Where is your evidence?

Statistics. How many royal children have been killed and how many British public children have been killed?

fridaynightzzz · 15/09/2026 14:10

He has security. He gets better security if it’s assessed necessary.

What he wants is 24/365 top security for all 4 of them which follows them worldwide and is paid us. It means he can continue his faux royal tours/flying around the world without any cost to him. He’ll want a jet on call next.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 15/09/2026 14:04

You are unreasonable for posting this in AIBU.

Betterbeingdead · 15/09/2026 14:03

Yes of course they should get protection .As long as they pay for it themselves that's fine . I would like to opt out of paying it though

angelos02 · 15/09/2026 13:54

I couldn't care less. I couldn't believe it was the top news item on breakfast TV. The royal family is worth billions. They can pay for it. Don't go cap in hand to tax payers.
