She should be ashamed of carrying on covered in shit. The right thing to do would be to forfeit and return to the changing rooms to clean herself up.
No one else should have been made to participate with someone who had shit running down her legs.

I have just read a few news stories about this and it appears that the organisers (Hydrox) have made a statement that the event was unprecedented and they made a mistake in not reacting immediate during the race.

The athlete herself has also made a statement.

There should not be anything further to write/say about this.

So you don’t think she should apologise for negatively affecting other competitors? How bizarre.

It’s absolutely fucking disgusting. As per pp, I’d seen the headlines, but now I’ve seen the photos 🤮. It’s far, far worse than I’d imagined. There is simply no comparison with outdoor cycling or running. She should have been straight off.
Have any other competitors protested the results?

Marathon runners and cyclists do this often BUT they aren’t generally affecting people around them (aside from anyone who has the misfortune of smelling them I guess). This woman shit all over the equipment so of course she won, who wanted to use it after her?! Also she won but nobody will remember that, she’ll forever be remembered as the gross fucker who shat herself and didn’t leave the competition.

Saw this yesterday and agree it was absolutely horrendous and yes of course she didn’t purposely mean to have diarrhoea but seriously how unhygienic? People were having to touch the same equipment, get down on the floor where there was human shit, I would’ve refused flat out to continue if I was the shitter or another athlete

I wouldn't bet on it TBH... Plenty of stories around the TdF of riders having a really bad day on the road and the mechanics having to do an extra special hose down of their bikes after the stage.

Absolutely disgusting! No way should she have been allowed to touch another piece of equipment until she cleaned herself up. Completely unhygienic and absolutely unacceptable anyone following her would be expected to just get on with it.

Runners doing it is one thing, no one has to touch anything after them...

I agree. If you haven’t seen, it wasn’t just that she had an accident largely contained to her underwear/shorts. Her leg is literally covered in it. I honestly cannot believe it continued. Totally gross.

Seems she is a top “elite” level in Hyrox, which brings money and sponsorship, which I think is why they didn’t pull her out.

There are some awful photos, other competitors with flecks of shit on them, waste on the rowing machine, she’s on the floor where other people lie.

She should have been pulled out. Why your own common sense would fail you I have no idea.

At my next race I will definitely be sacrificing a few seconds for a “shit check”

I knew from the title what this thread would be about...
I have competed in jiu jitsu a couple of times, read through the rules beforehand and was alarmed to see that this was something they thought might happen! Clearly Hyrox needs to update the rule book

To think this is absolutely disgusting and she shouldn’t have been allowed to continue!

She disadvantaged other competitors. So yes she should have been removed and the area thoroughly decontaminated. It happens in theatre surgery but is cleaned up immediately.
