DS(4) just started primary school last week.
One other from his nursery is at the school, and whilst at nursery my DS would often come home with stories of the other boy being put into ‘quiet time’ for biting, kicking, throwing and just generally misbehaving.
I want to caveat this by saying, my DS is absolutely no angel, he’s a v typical 4 year old, full of energy, loud, can’t sit still, talks non stop. He is also polite, caring, and thoughtful!
I know the other boys parents are having a hard time which I’m sure goes some way to explaining his behaviour at nursery (I don’t know them well but overheard the boys dad at pick up one day talking v openly and v loudly about separating from his partner (the mum) and that they are not on talking terms.) I also appreciate even if that event isn’t impacting his behaviour it’s v normal for 4 year olds to be physical/bite etc
All that said, we are in week 2 of primary school, the only friend my DS talks about is this boy, and I’ve already been held back twice after school and had an accident slip
1- day one the two boys were playing ‘punch down’ (!?!?!) and both got hurt - a game my DS tells me was as per the name, try and punch each other down!? I’ve no idea what came over him, we’ve talked about any games involving physically pushing / punching / using force are not okayZ
2- day 3, accident slip, hit in the head with a stick - other boy the culprit
today - my DS comes home with marks all down his T-shirts, the other boy was drawing on him with chalk.
Promise I am not neurotic, but I am worried!! I don’t know why seeing as the nursery will have handed over they put the two boys in the same class group - I am sure they are two peas in a pod and are revving each other up…
Anyone had similar and can offer me reassurance it’ll all be grand? Any suggestions if anything I can do to help my DS make good choices!?
