Would you class this person as a close friend?

If you hadn't seen them since December 2025 despite being 1 hour apart, and that meeting was arranged by you, and that you hadn't spoken since then except for a happy birthday on WhatsApp group chat and a 'congratulations ' message on the group chat. This person was one of my best friends, and this is the extent of the contact I have now, not through my own lack of trying but I've given up.

She has kids and meets up with Mum friends (I don't have kids yet)

Plenty of my best friends I don’t see or text for that level of time. It’s got easier as my child got older.

Baby groups aren’t really the same as it’s a lot more superficial and related to you all going through a massive change at the same time. Most of them fizzle as the children get older. As a new you mum you are often exhausted and the days blend into one.

I guess it would depend on how you are when you see each other. Is it like old times? I don’t think you can judge based on the info alone. One text when she just had her baby which she didn’t respond to isn’t really enough info to go on.

The above meeting was in a,group setting, and when she had her baby just over a year ago, I sent a congratulations message and said I'd love to meet the baby, and i never heard back.
