No need for a winter of hardship if Miliband let us take oil and gas from the North Sea and actually make things in the UK. The environmental policies have pushed down UK GDP made us poorer so we can't afford to heat ourselves.

His energy policies not only cost billions of lost GDP each year on oil and gas, but the collapse of our chemical industries and multiple other key industries. The reason why the pound keeps losing value is combination of lack of confidence in our politicians but also the death of our manufacturing industries - we are ceasing to have a "hard" currency - increasingly losing value.

We have lost 50% of our manufacturing sectors since the year 2000. In the next 5 years we will likely see the total loss of JLR and its supply chain from the UK - thats 20 billion every year we are likely to lose - how can 100k UK cars with reliability issues compete with 40k cars?

Our mad energy policies(6x the price of China, 3x the price of France), crazy tax policies, expensive infrastructure (700m cooling scheme to save 1 salmon every 12 years for example) and immigration policies (UK asylum seeker costs per asylum seeker 2.5x every other european nation costs per asylum seeker) make us poor. Sack left wing lawyers and ditch insane environmental policies and we might be able to afford higher gas bills for Ukraine.

The odds of you having a "nice life" get significantly lower if we don't have stable geopolitics. Putin needs to be deafeted in Ukraine, and in his shadow backing of the Iranian regime, and in his support for the Houthi rebels - all contributing to global instability and inflation. His goal is not a few parts of Ukraine, it is to estabilise and weaken the West. We will not have domestic economic growth if Russia is left free to act as a rogue state.

ISIS and their ilk are not going to stop if they defeat the governments of those countries. They still hate the West just as much as they ever did.
