How much for wedding gift?

Upcoming wedding. Bride and groom mid 40s and have lived together for years so have asked for money towards eg honeymoon instead. How much should we give? We haven't been to a wedding for a good long while so no real gauge of what is appropriate.

Context: we're financially comfortable, close to the bride and groom and they have invited us for the whole day.

My DH said £50 I but I think that's not enough!

YABU = £25 per person is plenty. You've got other costs you'll have to cover like a hotel room etc
YANBU = that's massively tight and won't even cover half of dinner

I’m absolutely not making a judgment on second marriages - been to loads of second time round weddings and have given gifts.

What I object to is a cash grab from a couple with their own money and/or the expectation that you somehow “owe” the couple a few quid because they invited you. If my invitation was conditional on me ponying up, then I’d rather not be invited, thanks.

I mean all your post(s) do is to make it rather clear why they didn’t invite you in the first place.

I'd gift £100 as both invited all day and your meal would cost more than that.

For close friends and family I normally give £100-150. For younger family just starting out I tend to up that to £200

We were giving £100 to friends 25-30 years ago. You can’t give £50 as a wedding guest. It’s embarrassing. We tend to have a ‘cover your meal’ amount for weddings. Family got £300ish in the early 00’s . Some of you are beyond tight.
