Tearing my hair out over missing oven

Has anyone got any advice? I ordered all new kitchen appliances on 11 August from Appliances Direct, the delivery was quoted 3-5 working days, I finally after many phone calls got my order delivered on Wednesday, except my oven was missing & the technician refused to fit my gas hob as he quoted my extractor was 1.5cm too low. I have spent £3k with this company, the oven, fitting, disposal of my old oven & the fitting of the hobs amount to nearly £800 that I can't afford to lose. The customer service for both the company I bought the appliances from & the contractors who deliver & fit the new appliances is all based in India, I can't get to speak to anyone who will help me, they just keep on blaming each other, I have asked to speak to a manager & they refuse. I've had to go & buy a small fridge to use until my new one was finally delivered, I'm surviving cooking with my air fryer & the microwave, I'm disabled & so stressed out, I'm not sleeping with worry, can anyone advise on how I can get this sorted quickly? Ideally I would like a refund so I can go elsewhere, I have emailed the head of customer service but have had no reply.

I ordered my new oven from AO.com last Monday & it was fitted on Wednesday, I'm now waiting for the Bosch repair man to come out to repair my 10 day old washing machine which decided to flood my kitchen yesterday.

I also recommend AO all my kitchen things are from them.

Why not get in touch with Rip Off Britain programme. Companies hate adverse publicity and will often offer compensation. Also the consumer at The Guardian. Send messages to all their social media ,again firms don't like the bad publicity.

Like who?

People use that phrase too frequently without thought

Why do people always make light of trichotillomania. It's a horrible affliction

I 100% recommend Appliances Online (AO). Always had brilliant service from them, including dealing with wrong sizes etc. Delivery and fitting have gone above and beyond what they are strictly meant to do. Easy customer service too. Glad you got a refund.

Have you submitted a formal complaint?

Yes I have & they are supposed to reply within 24 hours, I sent my complaint on Wednesday & haven't heard a thing.

I am having problems with appliances direct. I bought a dishwasher from them that is faulty.
I did get to speak to a manager, though. I just kept insisting, although I wasn’t put through directly - the manager called me back.
They have agreed to fix the dishwasher now, although the company they have employed to do so are equally useless. Hmm

They are a nightmare with zero customer service, I will never shop with them again.

Moneysaving Expert's Resolver service can be a good way to direct a complaint to someone who will take it seriously and means you don't have to use the cesspit that is twitter.

However, the reviews aren't good, which suggests that they're one of the many companies that are happy to take people's money but not fulfil their legal obligations to the consumer.

If you paid by credit card, you can use Section 75 protection to get your money back that way. With this you have a good chance of success, but they'll expect you to have tried to go directly to the company first, but it does sound like you've tried this.

Section 75 refunds: credit card protection – MSE

If you didn't use a credit card, you could try a chargeback as recommended above, but your legal protection is stronger with credit cards, which for the Mumsnetters who 'don't need a credit card' this is why you do.

Did you buy any of it on Credit Card? If you buy on Credit Card then the card company share liability with the supplier to either ensure you get what you paid for or get a full refund.

MirrorVent · 11/09/2026 05:44

Buy an electric hob, which requires less space beneath the extractor. You can look this up online to confirm whether the space you have wpuld be OK.

user1492757084 · 11/09/2026 04:55

Send it back, get reimbursed and start again.

SucksToBeYou · 11/09/2026 04:44

I would speak to your bank and see if you can do a charge back. Sounds so stressful! Hope you get it sorted.

Have you looked up the CEO's email?

Have you tried twitter?
