All seems fairly sensible to me. And in line with what was promised in the manifesto.

Ah yes when Reeves promised 'we will not increase National Insurance' and subsequently hit employers with a massive increase. Even the IFS has stated that this clearly broke a manifesto promise, no matter how much Labour try and pretend that they actually just meant employee NI.

None of these tax rises are sensible or promote growth. They have unnecessarily bound themselves to not increase the major taxes so are stuck increasing smaller taxes and doing untold damage to the economy.

Also the whole ethos of prioritising social security over national security is incredibly complacent. Had history not taught us anything! The Roman Empire lasted 500 years and ultimately ended. The idea that life as we know it and the current world order will be the same forever is incredibly naive. At some point the unthinkable will happen and we will need to defend our country. This will be very hard to do when so many people seem unable to cope with a job, let alone the death and destruction that comes with war.

If there is one thing I have learned it is that human beings are incredibly resiliant and adaptable when the worst happens.

The head of the IMF was on the TV news this morning warning lots of indebted countries, including the UK to get a grip on their debt in view of the inevitable forthcoming increases in interest rates. Prepare for a bumpy ride, folks, as Labour don't have a clue how to grow the economy nor reduce the humingous debt.

She actually called for us and other countries to reduce our debt.

At the moment none of those countries can even balance their books. Every month we all borrow more just to cover our outgoings that month. You can't reduce debt until you get rid of that monthly deficit and turn it into a surplus.

The USA goes through a farce every six months of having the Senate debate whether they are going to extend the debt. They even sometimes stop paying government employees until they agree to extend it. It's a farce because they can't not. If they don't, the world's reserve currency collapses.

It's completely unsustainable.

Austerity like you've never seen before. Either imposed to stop financial Armageddon, or caused by it.

But Labour are in power. They could do that, in the uk anyway.

And commit electoral suicide at the same time.

It would be a pointless exercise of self harm unless all the over borrowed economies, particularly the USA, do the same.
