To be annoyed nobody mentioned who started the war

I've seen some sickening posts - direct and indirect- but this one is particularly sick. Do you care to cast your mind back to the holocaust. Try thinking before making insensitive comments by trying to point score. It says a hell of a lot about your motives.

On the planet right now, Israel is the biggest childkiller. Stop using the Holocaust to justify it.

It’s very hard for anyone to argue that Israel have ever wanted peace. All their actions show otherwise. They are a war mongering state.

Any state would be constantly ready for battle if they were completely surrounded by States who all hate them and people who train their children specifically at home and in school to hate them. States that are full of terrorists with one expressed wish to destroy lsrael. And also if 6 million of their people were killed in gas chambers less than a 100 years ago and that is part of many families history . I would be watching my back at all times if l was them. And also if a massive majority of the world absolutely are against you constantly and only need the slightest reason to rise up in hatred against you.

Very very true and not acknowledged enough whilst anti Israel rhetoric is repeated over & over again on Mumsnet.

It is interesting though when the trauma or tragedies that have happened to various other groups of people around the world and throughout history are apparently generational trauma that must never be forgotten etc

In addition, it seems a large proportion of people in the West, including on here, expect Israelis to care about Palestinians, and support them having a State next door, after the unimaginable atrocities (an actual genocide in intent) of Oct 7th together with the indiscriminate hostage taking of babies, children and elderly!

They saw it, lived it, dealt with the aftermath, and watched the celebrations of Palestinians while slaughtered bodies of Israelis were mutilated, beheaded, stamped on and defiled while being dragged through Gaza.

Yet, they are reviled as a collective nation for their Government's response to it.

It's insanity.

People do like to pick a point in history to back up their own position. The area has been at war for millennia. Pretty much all borders to all countries have been established through wars, so perhaps a better question is why has this area not become stabilised like other areas?

No.

Briefly, the war started when the Arabs started a civil war against the Jews, following the UN vote in 1947. It escalated when war was officially declared by the Arabs of the Levant and surrounding Arab countries, following Israel's declaration of independence.
