Anyone else had a strange virus with sinus pressure and ear blockage?

Yep, started with a bunged up nose and chesty cough about ten days ago on holiday. Had two days of pounding headache and general weakness and then felt absolutely fine. Even climbed a mountain! Next day back to feeling wiped out, then it’s been one symptom after another. I’ve had fatigue, sickness, sinus pain, joint pain and today it’s earache. I’m expecting to wake up tomorrow missing a limb or something. Bit fed up with it now. I’ve been back at work (WFH) since Tuesday but it scuppered the last few days of holiday.

I did consider it might be Covid, I suspect I caught it on the plane or train journey. The rest of the family are fine, for now at least.

I ended up in hospital with sudden BP spike, occipital headache, ear pain and sinus pain as well as horrific labyrinthitis. Sounds very similar. Had brief fevers but not constant fevers. I ended up hVing brain and neck MRI as they thought I may have a blood clot due to the extreme BP (210/110) took weeks to recover

yes! Ears and sinus. Initially started with my glands on one side and I couldn’t speak normally, I suddenly had a lisp. Was that just me? Don’t occur toe that it might be Covid, only lasted a few days.

Also, funnily enough my smartwatch alerted me to an irregular heartbeat on Sunday. I was in really hot weather so thought it might be that, but perhaps it was also related. Not done it again since.

No fever, that’ll probably be tomorrow’s symptom.

Thank you and also thank you @Livelovelaughfuckoff I forgot about the muscle pain until it was mentioned on here. It’s a mystery to me how I can feel so wretched and tired even though all I have at the moment is a headache. In the end, all that will be left on this planet is viruses and AI.

OMG I am so glad i found this. This is literally me. The weird neck pain, and it went away for a few days and then came back worse than ever. No coughing, just a sore throat and headaches initially. I went to docs today and they barely said anything... just a virus etc. I feel so wiped out and ill! Week 4 of it now. My neck is so painful. Any tips?!

Re: tests - lots of places sell them so it’s just something we have in. They’re in all the major supermarkets, savers, high street chemist chains or you can buy them on Amazon.

I have blocked ears like ive come off a plane and they wont pop! GP said my eardrum is showing signs of infection. Had banging headaches and the base of my skulls had stabbing pains!

Aching itchy eyes, blocked ears for the whole week so far. Hot and cold and hot again. Raging headache and neck pain yesterday and today. Achy legs and arms, in a weird rotation.

Insomnia, but falling asleep when I sit down. Incredibly lethargic, can’t bear the sound of other ppl’s voices. Diarrhoea today. DH the same except just feeling slightly sick.

DS had the same but we had actually just got off a plane so assumed it was that at the time but he was then complaining of sinus type pressure and jaw pain so I think it was covid. He was better for a few days and now has sore throat and feeling a bit sick. Very weird that it seems to be different symptoms popping up one after the other with periods of feeling a bit better in between.

Yes, DH and I have both been suffering with really bad sinus pain, headache, sore throat and fatigue. His started on holiday and he thought it was due to the plane, he booked a dentist appointment as his teeth were hurting so much. He has a cough too.
The sinus pain is awful I don’t seem to be able to get any relief from it but I’m not congested at all. I keep getting a temperature in and off too.

Interesting DS nearly booked the dentist because his teeth were hurting but couldn’t get an appointment and then the tooth pain went and just left sinus and ear pain. I can always tell when I have covid over a normal virus the symptoms just hit differently and without any logic!

I've had this weird virus all week, but I did a covid test about an hour ago and it's negative 🥴 whatever it is, I wish it would just bog off now 🤒🤢😷

I’ve got this I think. Started with a sore throat and ear pressure last week and still feel crap. My mouth is so dry and itchy and irritated and I’ve got a night cough that’s waking me up. Today it feels like my mouth is full of ulcers or like I’ve bitten my tongue ( can’t see anything obvious) and I was thinking maybe it was my teeth. My whole mouth feels like I’ve had dental work done including the numbing injection.

I did a Covid test last week just in case and it was negative.

Interesting, my whole mouth is really sore and tingly. I thought I was having an allergic reaction to something but it doesn’t ease with antihistamines. It’s really uncomfortable.

Coughing more today. Wakened just after 4am by several enormous bangs from the railway maintenance. Less of a headache but still very breathless. Practised some box breathing which relieved it in a couple of minutes. Brain less foggy. Hope it goes soon

Yes! I even took piriton. Mine has now loosened on my chest and I have a productive cough and it’s started to all feel a lot better

I've had a post nasal drip now for just over a year.
Started off with tinnitus (never had that before!) and my ears were blocked. No other symptoms, no snottyness or congestion or anything. Tinnitus went and then I started with this post nasal drip thing. Had never had that before either. Didn't even know it had a name! My glands were on/off swollen. This was all last summer. Dr said it was viral. I'm guessing COVID as never had anything like it before.
Still suffering with the thick mucus pooling at the back of my throat. Annoying as hell tbh. ENT not really interested. Just told me it may or may not go.
I found a forum online with people who had the same thing. Someone has said, it's like the virus has damaged nerve endings in the nasal passages and your body is tricked into thinking you still have a virus and over produces mucous to try and deal with it (now when I definitely did have COVID before I had the vaccine and was quite poorly), I had a weird sensation in my nose. Like when you swallow sea water and it comes back through your nose and burns? That sort of feeling. I don't have a medical background but that sort of made sense to me.
They're still studying the effects of COVID aren't they?

Same. Laying in bed now feeling awful with the exact same symptoms which I’ve had for two weeks.

I had it a few months ago too, exactly the same. Previous time I kept putting it down to other stuff (hayfever, allergy, diet, the heatwaves, my pillows, sleeping funny).

So glad I’ve found this thread but sorry everyone else is struggling too. I’ve started sleeping almost upright at night cos of the sinus pain, headache and neck ache.

Any advice for what eases it? I can’t take sinus meds due to other medication I take, or so the pharmacist said. Been using a sinus rinse but it’s not helping.
