Anyone else had a strange virus with sinus pressure and ear blockage?

I posted last week that I had this virus, it was such an odd collection of symptoms that I only realised it was a virus when I read this thread. Hope you are better now OP.

I just looked back at my diary and it started on 11 Aug and I finally felt properly better yesterday. The first two weeks were the worst. So in all it lasted 3.5 weeks.

Agh. I’ve had a sharp stabbing pain in my left ear all day, and starting to feel crappy.

I had it a few weeks ago. Spent a full day lay on sofa with a bag of ice on my face as the sinus pain was horrible. Took a couple of weeks to shake it off.

Ugh I think I have this virus too. Totally deaf in my right ear and pain down neck and constant dull headache. I also had a bad belly when I woke up this morning. I’m going away on a much longed for holiday this Friday so I’m hoping it’s run it’s worse by then 🤞🏻

Aching back of neck, especially where it joins my skull, it clicks at night when I move my head, slight ear ache and upset stomach om and off for the last few days. Don't feel terrible, but not great either.

So glad I'm not the only one feeling like this, I was worried my auto immune condition was sending me worse symptoms! Came down with this a week ago 😭

I’m still having sinus pain, headaches and mouth pain. It’s really crappy, and I’m living off paracetamol. Can’t take anything else due to other medication .
DH is better now just has a cough.
I’ve had Covid four times and it’s not been anything like this.

Yes me ! I was away on a uk holiday came home last weekend and it has been working on me the last week, came to a head on Wednesday been in bed mostly since then. I am assuming it is just "fluey" or maybe covid but my taste is fine. I hope you are better soon.

Still dizzy (I guess it's better termed vertigo) here but my heart seems to have mostly settled down and I don't look like a reanimated corpse anymore. It'll be 3 weeks tomorrow since first symptoms.

Day 15 here. Still exhausted. Feel kinda better but like I can’t get enough air into my lungs. Still feel like I need to take it easy. Desperate to get out and active again but I could just sleep

Same. Laying in bed now feeling awful with the exact same symptoms which I’ve had for two weeks.

I had it a few months ago too, exactly the same. Previous time I kept putting it down to other stuff (hayfever, allergy, diet, the heatwaves, my pillows, sleeping funny).

So glad I’ve found this thread but sorry everyone else is struggling too. I’ve started sleeping almost upright at night cos of the sinus pain, headache and neck ache.

Any advice for what eases it? I can’t take sinus meds due to other medication I take, or so the pharmacist said. Been using a sinus rinse but it’s not helping.

Yes, and cough, cough, cough. But the blocked ear and bunged-up head is the worst.

I've had a post nasal drip now for just over a year.
Started off with tinnitus (never had that before!) and my ears were blocked. No other symptoms, no snottyness or congestion or anything. Tinnitus went and then I started with this post nasal drip thing. Had never had that before either. Didn't even know it had a name! My glands were on/off swollen. This was all last summer. Dr said it was viral. I'm guessing COVID as never had anything like it before.
Still suffering with the thick mucus pooling at the back of my throat. Annoying as hell tbh. ENT not really interested. Just told me it may or may not go.
I found a forum online with people who had the same thing. Someone has said, it's like the virus has damaged nerve endings in the nasal passages and your body is tricked into thinking you still have a virus and over produces mucous to try and deal with it (now when I definitely did have COVID before I had the vaccine and was quite poorly), I had a weird sensation in my nose. Like when you swallow sea water and it comes back through your nose and burns? That sort of feeling. I don't have a medical background but that sort of made sense to me.
They're still studying the effects of COVID aren't they?

Yes! I even took piriton. Mine has now loosened on my chest and I have a productive cough and it’s started to all feel a lot better

Yes took 4 weeks to shift it again

Coughing more today. Wakened just after 4am by several enormous bangs from the railway maintenance. Less of a headache but still very breathless. Practised some box breathing which relieved it in a couple of minutes. Brain less foggy. Hope it goes soon

Interesting, my whole mouth is really sore and tingly. I thought I was having an allergic reaction to something but it doesn’t ease with antihistamines. It’s really uncomfortable.

I’ve got this I think. Started with a sore throat and ear pressure last week and still feel crap. My mouth is so dry and itchy and irritated and I’ve got a night cough that’s waking me up. Today it feels like my mouth is full of ulcers or like I’ve bitten my tongue ( can’t see anything obvious) and I was thinking maybe it was my teeth. My whole mouth feels like I’ve had dental work done including the numbing injection.

I did a Covid test last week just in case and it was negative.

I've had this weird virus all week, but I did a covid test about an hour ago and it's negative 🥴 whatever it is, I wish it would just bog off now 🤒🤢😷

Interesting DS nearly booked the dentist because his teeth were hurting but couldn’t get an appointment and then the tooth pain went and just left sinus and ear pain. I can always tell when I have covid over a normal virus the symptoms just hit differently and without any logic!

Yes, DH and I have both been suffering with really bad sinus pain, headache, sore throat and fatigue. His started on holiday and he thought it was due to the plane, he booked a dentist appointment as his teeth were hurting so much. He has a cough too.
The sinus pain is awful I don’t seem to be able to get any relief from it but I’m not congested at all. I keep getting a temperature in and off too.
