I think the open bit means they were both free to have friendships outside the marriage, and he wasn't fussed about being attached to her 365 days a year tagging along with her on the road.
He was happy to stay at home, maybe travel with her when it suited him.

But friendships doesn't mean affairs or friends with benefits, just good friends.

She has given interviews where she says neither were ever unfaithful, but they were free to flirt with other people. it's the sort of relationship they had with each other.
That's when she used the word 'open'.

She died of cancer.

She had Rheumatoid Arthritis for many years. This in itself carries a statistically significant risk of developing some types of cancer - and 80 is a perfectly normal lifespan in any case.

Dolly came to the hospital I worked at in South Yorkshire as part of her Imagination Library. I remember seeing her surrounded by 'the management' though she did meet some of the 'proper' staff and went on to the maternity unit. The parents of the latest newborn was pictured with her, and the huge picture is still displayed in the hospital to this day.

For such a huge personality, she was tiny.

I think she has such a wonderful way with words! Obviously she was a gifted songwriter but she was great in interviews and quick witted too.

She was lovely but no single person should be put on such a pedestal

She was just a decent human being not many left she did go round doing charity work and wanting a prize for it she put her money were her mouth was not like the fakes like the beckams she was the real thing probly one of the last

I think when it comes out after their death that they did a lot for charity....that's the true measure of how generous and good-hearted someone is.

There is a celeb who is always talking about what he is going to do to help people....and he does it, if only he didn't have to announce it.

I think her message was woman can be who they want to be.

I truly loved George, but Dolly was just on another level.

I think the whole point was she was totally free to do what she wanted, and felt the same about everyone else.

no but think she had enormous charisma was a woman of god and gave joy and happiness to many around the world to that extent i would describe her as philanthropist and evangelist

No scandals followed her; George had a few, but I think he wasn't as mentally stable as Dolly.
But my point was they both did loads for charities and good causes behind the scenes; neithet felt the need to tell the world what they were doing.

And people say she's just a big pair of tits.

I admired her for so many different reasons. But the thing that was most impressive for me, is that she made a point of NOT becoming a billionaire. That definite financial choice allowed her to set up and maintain all her wonderful humanitarian projects.
The world would be a better place if more billionaires thought like Dolly. 💔

I knew books had been given out in the uk but not that many.

I have thank you and I’m a fan I think she’s an amazing person but I stand by what I said.
