Is this stinginess?

A guy I've been chatting to (the exciting phase) found out that my friend works at a restaurant where he has a two year old voucher for. He said if my friend would still honour the voucher, he would take me there for dinner. Is it stingy/cringe of him to even suggest that?

Well you already know what life will look like once the honeymoon period has worn off if he's already tight now.
Youl be back on here complaining that he's took you out for a meal, drunk 5 pints, ordered the most expensive meal on the menu then "forgot his wallet"

Wouldn't occur to me not to use a voucher. Im in Ireland and all vouchers have to last at least 5 years, so this wouldn't even arise as an issue.
