AIBU to think neighbours should not be naked in their garden?

For context: Our house is on a new build estate and the houses are pretty close together. It’s fairly easy to see into neighbours gardens because the trees etc are not well established yet.

AIBU to say my neighbours shouldn’t be naked in their garden. They are often out in the garden totally naked taking photos of themselves. They have parties quite often and it’s not uncommon for them and friends to be out in the garden naked / using the hot tub etc.

Am I being a killjoy ? Seems excessive to me.

If we spoke to our kids about our bodies then they would be more confident and mature about nudity and may even appreciated the human body better

That assumes that the parents in question are able to handle it maturely themselves and actually listen to their children if they seem uncomfortable.

Unfortunately though, some parents handle it by laughing at their child and calling them a 'little prude', as happened to me. Which is why I feel passionately now that parents need to be sensitive to whether or not their children seem comfortable with their nudity if they choose to go naked at home.

The law is fairly straightforward, it is legal to be naked in your garden but you should not be causing alarm or stress to others. The guidance is that fences or hedges should be sufficiently high that your neighbours shouldn’t be able to see in from their garden. Sexual activity is different and that has a higher threshold so that wouldn’t be allowed if your garden can be viewed from any point externally eg from neighbours upper window.

I think moving is the best option op, they don’t sound like the best neighbours

If its laying in your garden i agree there is no law to stop it, police will not be interested.
Fences make sense and if a neighbour sants to look out of a bedroom windos it is tjeir choice and they do not need to look if ghey dont want to

I agree with you I go around the house naked in this weather and my place is'nt really overlooked so I go out in the garden naked to and I dont really care if neighbours bother to look it's my choice and they dont have to look

Someone’s eyes pointing in a specific direction isn’t the same thing as ‘looking’.
