To think Kelly Osborne must have body dysmorphia?

I’ve just seen a photo of Kelly Osborne, having not seen one for years. I don’t tend to keep up with celeb gossip but this photo actually shocked me. She looks about 55, despite being only 40, and so frail because of how much weight she’s lost. She can’t possibly think she looks good. I think she must have body dysmorphia. I can see how growing up in the spotlight somewhere like LA, being surrounded by ridiculously beautiful people, where cosmetic surgery and being a size zero is standard, must have been very difficult for her, especially as she has been overweight for most of life. Do you think she’s able to recognise how awful she looks but is just unable to stop herself losing weight & getting surgery and she’ll never be satisfied? Or do you think she thinks she actually looks good?

Not Kelly, no.

but there’s a chance it may help someone reading realise they need help.

so I’m conflicted. I know KO is not well, and I know public opinion and discussion on someone’s health/weight is not great. But on the other hand, public discussion will shine light on what isn’t healthy, and may mean someone reaches out if they are in a similar situation.

Given the bitchy nature of a lot of these comments, I would think they would add to the low self esteem of anyone

CrikeyNumpty · 03/03/2026 15:58

Required should read replaced.

CrikeyNumpty · 03/03/2026 15:57

The Osbornes, the whole lot of them, have addictive personalities. They replace one addiction with another. With regard to Sharon, she has admitted to hitting the fat jabs and lost too much weight and can’t put it back on. At Ozzy’s funeral all three Osbourne women including the sister who shuns the limelight, were looking skeletal. So it wasn’t just grief for Kelly, if she was like that then, she has been abusing the jabs like her mum and sister.

It seems to be a new look to “aspire to”. See Demi Moore, the two women from Wicked. Strong and athletic is now required by weak and feeble.

Probably more unhelpful to buy into the lie that not eating will get you the same chiselled jaw results as buccal fat removal surgery.

This. Im finding it hard to believe people are so focused on 'weight loss' and dont really understand the surgical impact of procedures she has had.

I dont know if any of the pictures in this article are AI enhanced or not

But if the issue is that society pressures people to look a certain way, i.e the media shames celebs into altering their appearance/weight, which in turn pressures others to alter their appearance/weight to meet a mythical beauty standard, then this thread, and others like it, are adding to the problem.

It is much more helpful just to let people be.

In Kelly's case, she's been too fat, now too thin, her face has been too round, now too gaunt, too plain, now too odd. Just leave the woman be, fgs. She's already made it clear that media speculation on her appearance is making her ill. Respect that and give her the space she needs to find peace.

I dont know why people assume that someone who (they assume) is suffering from a MH condition or emotional welfare condition isnt getting 'help'

There is a naivety that 'help' will fix the person. Sometimes it doesnt and it just manages the person to function day to day.

In terms of KO, she had a terrible uprbringing, traumatic and toxic. It scars you for life.

Whatever the reason for the weight loss, I still think she needs help.

grief counselling, psychiatric help, medical intervention.

she needs something because she clearly isn’t well.

dismissing it as a normal consequence of grief doesn’t help. Even if it is, it’s very extreme. Nearly everyone is affected by grief at some point, yet weight loss to that extreme isn’t uncommon.

You are contributing to that pressure on women by starting a thread about a woman and how she looks.

Yes whilst not leading with how she looks and the example she’s setting.

Seymorbutts · 03/03/2026 11:54

These “you wouldn’t shame a man like this”, “it’s only women’s bodies that get criticised” comments are so tiring. Of course I would “criticise”, or show genuine curiosity (which is what I’m actually doing) about a man who did this to his body! But the facts of the matter are, this is a women’s issue. There are far, far less men who end up like this, because they’re not subject to the same intense pressure to be a size zero and look “perfect”. The whole problem is the enormous pressure women in the spotlight (and those who aren’t) are under and the devastating effects it can have. This is actually what this thread was supposed to be about, not some kind of “let’s slag of Kelly osbourne” post. If you think it’s best to keep quiet about this awful, and very real issue, with a “we must never comment on anyone’s appearance” attitude, then the problem is just going to get worse and the pressure for women more intense. If they get the message, maybe unfortunately sometimes, through harsh criticism, then maybe society (and young vulnerable women who look up to these celebrities) will get the message that this isn’t a good look and maybe the whole malnourished, heroin chic trend will start to go away.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/03/2026 13:38

If you have to criticise someone, there are plenty of clusterfuck celebs who are addicted to plastic surgery, are terrible mothers and put themselves out there as role models. Perhaps be more concerned about them than KO.

Notsosweetcaroline · 03/03/2026 13:20

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/03/2026 12:14

Yes - This! Same for anyone else who wants to publicly take apart a vulnerable woman. Let everyone else express their faux concerns.

Exactly, I’d actually bet good money the op is not setting any kind of good example, nor is anyone else picking apart this woman’s looks, with the justifcruin it’s concern and delivering a message,

so my message would be sort yourselves out before you attack others. Because you set an example, to everyone who sees you.

You would never discuss a man in this manner. The body-shaming is disgusting. Leave the poor woman alone.

She does have a child, which is why it is sad that for a family that has access the money and resources to support her, they dont seem to be. She is active on social media, attends events outside of tributes to Ozzy and has a presenting 'career' off of the back of her famous parents. She seems happy enough in the limelight.

Oh okay, then it’s fine to dehumanise her apparently.

Whatever you think about how she looks, let her live her life without adding to the pressure on her. Because all these negative comments are not exactly going to help her, in fact the opposite.

Owlmoonstar · 03/03/2026 12:19

She is grieving for her father.

Stress can cause weight loss. Can everyone just allow her to grieve without criticising her appearance?

Fucks sake. Plus the constant insults towards her. Not exactly gonna do much for her self esteem is it?

Maybe she does have an eating disorder, but none of the above will help that!

How about people start posting some positive things about the family. Some positive media reports may boost their self esteem and cheer them up!

Swissbees · 03/03/2026 12:16

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/03/2026 12:12

How would you those of you expressing ‘concern’ feel if it was you or your daughters being ripped apart in the press and SM? She has children, she has nieces and nephews and she is human.

This woman has had many addiction and food issues - it is quite possible that any surgery she has had is related to those issues.

She is not someone who is
‘seeking the limelight’, she is involved in public tributes to her father.

if you want to gleefully take someone apart, at least have the balls to admit it.

she looks to be a healthy weight

No she doesnt, she has plenty of photos she has chosen to post on social media which clearly show she is underweight. The decision to have buccal fat removal knowing the negative attention and comments from people is a very pointed decision, and suggests she enjoys the attention.

I havent seen those as I dont have tiktock or instagram but I was going from the picture at the Baftas where her arms, neck was on show and they look reasonable, normal, in proportion, her head is in proportion to her frame

Its her face which as you say, is done purposesly for a particular 'look' which to my mind is disturbing, bizarre and concerning. But she isnt the only one, the first person I saw with this was a male actor, there was a thread on here about it, he looked frightful

You aren’t giving anyone the message op, you just come across as catty and judgemental. And it’s nothing to be proud of you’d criticise men as well.

I suspect you’d not wish to post a pic of your body as it would be nothing to write home about. And if you’ve genuine concern you’d not be spamming the internet slagging off women’s bodies, you’d write to Kelly personally and inform her of your apparent genuine concern.
