Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

I'm a towel sharer.

I appreciate gifts that I don't really like. I appreciate that someone has gone to the trouble of getting something for me.

I have the thermostat set to 17 because I prefer the house to be cool 😁

I don’t have a job and have a housekeeper and a nanny.

I had the audacity to have a child while being poor, in receipt of universal credit, (although I was working,) unmarried and not living with my (now) ex, and living in rented accommodation. Clearly I'm feckless and need to feel bad for being a drain on society. (Not!) I was 35 when DS was born.

lol I found out I was pregnant at 15 I am routinely hated 🤣

Ooh I thought of another one! I get sad if my football team don't win their matches. Equally I was sad about the England men's cricket team fucking up the Ashes. It spoils my day!

Here's a link to one of the chicken threads. I'm sure this is the one as well where one poster used one chicken breast as well between four people to make fajitas!

If I use one large chicken (or extra large). I get a roast dinner for four and a few bits for sandwiches afterwards. Can't be arsed making stock so the carcass goes in the bin!

Edited

I make a very nice chicken noodle soup with my roast chicken carcasses 😉 I bung the carcass in the slow cooker with water, some bayleaves, peppercorns, onions and whatever veg is looking a bit sad in the fridge. Once cooked, strain the broth and chuck it on the stove with a tin of sweetcorn and some noodles until the noodles are cooked. I sometimes add one of the Itsu ramen broth pouches to make it extra tasty and some cornflour to thicken it a bit. You can also add in any leftover chicken from the roast itself but we rarely have any leftover chicken between the actual roast itself and then making chicken fried rice the next day and DDog getting his portion of chicken leftovers

I coslept/sleep with both my DC.

Sometimes I give DD1 raisins to keep her entertained in the shops 😂

I don't always brush DD1s hair daily. She has extremely curly hair so I either braid it for a couple days or if I forgot to braid it, I put it up in two pompoms for the day and then brush it in the bath in the evening when its wet with lots of conditioner

DD1 gets screentime and we often watch a film together on a weekend afternoon. She doesn't seem to be negatively affected by screentime so I don't have an issue with it

I don't cook separate meals for the DC but they can always have fruit and yoghurt for dessert if they didn't like what I made. Sometimes DD1 will eat anything and everything, sometimes nothing. I try not to stress about it

I introduced "solids" at 4 months. Not full on weaning, but little tastes of peanut butter, sesame and other big allergens to try and prevent allergies. I also gave them fruit in one of those plastic dummies with holes in to suck and chew on for sensory stimulation (they got f all nutrients from it)

I BF both DC until it felt right to stop and didn't put a specific date on it. Dd1 self weaned at 20 months when I was pregnant with DD2

I don't stress about salt in meals for DC. I don't let them eat excessively salty food on a regular occurrence, but I cook normally as I did pre-DC and ensure they have plenty of fluids. They have functioning kidneys, and thre evidence for salt restriction in healthy children is incredibly poor nonexistent

I like Christmas

I judge people who put their trees up in November

I strongly believe cats should not be allowed free roam outside

I don't regulate my 12yo's screen time.

I breastfed into toddlerhood

I don't believe in fed is best

I don't immediately jump to diagnosing every person that behaves in a way that I find difficult as having some sort of ND

I feed bread to ducks

I phone people

We eat McDonald's

Sometimes, it's my MIL's fault.

grumpygrape · 21/12/2025 21:02

Husband and I polished off a Terry’s Choc Orange (It wasn’t Terry’s, it was MINE !) today.

I had to stuff my face quickly to make sure I got more than husband…. 😉

It seems that the thought on MN is that loo brushes were dirty things.

I’m a proud loo brush owner but was shocked by someone who said she put hers in the dishwasher 🤮.

I remember that thread. Now that is grim retches

ShiftingSand · 21/12/2025 19:42

Stayed home and gave up working to raise my children.
Gave them all dummies, they are now adults with straight teeth and non thumb suckers.
I don’t obsess over food, mainly cook from scratch but eat what I want when I want, don’t care what I look like.
Was strict with my children and they are now respectful, successful, happy adults, and yes they want to spend time with me. Gentle parenting - no thanks 🙂‍↔️

With my MN chicken I made 17 meals and three sandwiches. | Mumsnet

It can be done! Large chicken, don't know the weight but it took 2 hours 5 minutes to cook. We had - Roast dinner for five. Chicken fajitas for four....

I buy my child more than “something you want/wear/need/read” at Xmas!

So do I. I always thought it was rather a joyless mantra.

I can’t find the thread but if I remember rightly the chicken was portioned so that adults got half a breast each, and the kids shared a leg, there was stir fry, salad and sandwiches with similar homeopathic measures of chicken. And then stock.

😂😂😂

oh bless you - thank you for looking 🥰

I don’t feel the need to tell random women they’re unreasonable.

I don’t suck the joy out of every situation I’m in.

otherlineeyes · 19/12/2025 20:19

I don’t reply to messages in a timely fashion. I would have no friends in MN world

I've never earned a 6 figure salary.

I rarely notice “use by” dates. If it doesn't pong I'll eat it

I get along well with my neighbours and quite enjoy hearing their children playing in the garden

I don't sob & shake if a passing motorist uses my driveway for a turnaround

I'm definitely Team Lav Brush. I bought 2 new ones last week for a bit of a Christmas treat 😀😀

Six figure salary 😂😂😂

oh yeah and 220k savings is poverty lines

Quite a number of MNers seem to think that a loo brush is a filthy object that is totally full of shit. They don't seem to get that if you dunk them up and down under the flush and then dip them in bleach then they are fine. Nor can any of them ever adequately explain how you scrub skiddoes off the toilet without one. Apparently they mostly use marigold rubber gloves and put their hands down the toilet, completely missing or ignoring the fact that then you would get shit on the marigolds too.

I am not one of them. I am the proud owner of two toilet brushes and so it will stay. 😃

The chicken. Well, someone once said on here that they could make meals for a family of four or five for a week using just a small chicken. God alone knows how! It passed into MN legend and became known as the magic chicken. 🤣

Who’s eating week old chicken, and are they well.

We got a Chinese last night, and I wouldn’t even entertain the chicken from it today, nevermind next week.

MissMountshafft · 19/12/2025 18:47

Although am I breaking a MN rule with the bleach
